Segup trains professionals for humanized care for the homeless population in Tailândia
Course prepares professionals to deal with social vulnerability on the streets

On the 11th and 12th, the Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense of Pará (Segup), through the Directorate of Public Policies and Social Prevention (DPS), in collaboration with the Institute of Security Education of Pará (Iesp), trained the fourth class of the course "Targeted Care for the Homeless Population" in Tailândia. The objective is to enhance the skills of professionals to provide more sensitive, efficient, and humanized care to people in social vulnerability.
Held at the City Hall of Tailândia, the course had the participation of 75 attendees. Representatives from the Military Police of Pará, Military Fire Brigade, Civil Police, the City Hall of Tailândia, and the Secretariats of Assistance, Health, and Education, as well as the Vida Nova Association, were present. The training aims to prepare security agents and professionals in the care network to promote more humanized approaches, strengthening the institutional culture of respect for human rights.
According to the head of Segup, Ualame Machado, the action represents a pioneering strategy of the State to improve the public security system in serving vulnerable populations.
“The training we are promoting is a crucial step to enhance how our professionals approach and serve the homeless population. We recognize the importance of humanized and efficient care that respects the dignity of each individual. By investing in the qualification of our agents, we are strengthening our capacity to offer support and solutions to those who need it most. This is a commitment from the Secretary of Public Security to building a fairer and more supportive society,” he stated.

The training covers topics such as: assistance policies; the homeless person; the reality of Brazil and Pará, and interactive workshops and dynamics were held so that agents can better understand the context of the vulnerability of the population and systematically dialogue the work of social assistance and public security.
The training also included a support network that operates in the municipality, such as municipal bodies of assistance and social promotion. For the vice-mayor of Tailândia, Anna Nisa Barbosa, the importance of the training lies in the humanization of care for homeless people promoted by various actors.
“We were pleased to receive this training with great joy so that the people who are approached have a more humane service, and that we can work on a way to raise awareness and collaborate with the protection network. We thank the Government of Pará for this opportunity to train the people involved in our protection network in our municipality,” she said.
