Government of Pará gathers youth to outline mobilization strategies for COP 30
During Youth Week, the meeting presented planning and mobilization for the realization of a unified agenda
The Government of Pará, through the Secretary of Racial Equality and Human Rights (Seirdh), held a meeting for action and mobilization of youth for the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP 30). The meeting took place on the afternoon of Wednesday (13).
The event, held in the auditorium of Seirdh, was in commemoration of International Youth Day, celebrated on August 12, and marked the beginning of the unified mobilization process of Pará's youth focused on COP 30.
During the meeting, youth collectives, which already have a planning of actions for COP 30, made a brief presentation to the youth. Subsequently, strategies were outlined for the formation of a unified agenda for the youth during the event.
“In November, Belém will be the capital of the world for climate discussions, hosting COP 30. This means we will have a historic chance to show that the Amazon is not just a theme of conferences; it is the place where solutions need to be born and happen. It is essential that we, the youth, are at the center of this construction. Not just as an audience, but as protagonists. That our young researchers, entrepreneurs, artists, activists, and community leaders can present solutions, denounce injustices, and propose paths to end the climate crisis,” explains Júnior Martins, the manager of Youth Rights Promotion at Seirdh.
Journalism student and representative of “Youth PCD”, Willian Andrey, highlights the importance of youth demands, which represent more than 25% of Pará's population. “It is fair that we are here debating, showing our visions, even the needs that need to be adjusted so that a large portion of this youth can be present. We already have significant participation in major societal achievements, so it is not just about the environment, not just about climate, but about participation,” he emphasizes.
Willian Andrey congratulated the State Government's initiative to open a space to hear the demands of youth and the projects of each movement. According to him, it is an important moment to know what other movements, artists, private initiatives, and the State itself are planning so that integrated actions and activities can occur.
“I think that if everything fits, these are proposals that end up integrating when one has a proposal for a certain event, one has tourism, and often there is a demand for entrepreneurship, for the artist, it ends up showing another side through the hands of civil youth, with the public power, a much more organized event. It is the moment we needed for projects to be integrated,” he stressed.
Actions aimed at youth
Seirdh is also linked to the State Youth Council of Pará (Cojuepa), which is currently undergoing a restructuring process of the decree of its creation to meet administrative adjustments. From this, the electoral process will be structured for the launch of a notice to elect representatives of civil society during the next biennium.
“In 2023 we reactivated Cojuepa, held local, municipal, and state youth conferences, contributing to a historic process that had not occurred for more than five years,” points out Júnior Martins.
Since the beginning of 2025, Pará has gone from three to ten municipal youth managers. In addition, Seirdh promoted training initiatives in the area of entrepreneurship with the “Entrepreneurial Youth” program, in partnership with the Brazilian Service of Support for Micro and Small Enterprises (Sebrae/PA), training more than 100 young people in the last six months of 2024.
Furthermore, the Secretary disseminated information about youth rights in the “Se Liga Juventudes” program, distributing more than ten thousand youth statutes and five thousand informational materials from the “ID Jovem of the Federal Government” program. Still in 2024, Seirdh also held the “Y20 Pre-Summit”, the largest youth event in the Northern region, gathering more than 1,200 people, including youth from Pará, national and international delegations. In 2025, in partnership with the Federal Government and the Municipality of Marituba, the Secretary held the Youth Caravan, where organized youth from Pará could contribute to the development of the National Youth Plan.
Month of Youth
In addition to the meeting held on Wednesday, the 13th, Seirdh participated, last Monday, the 11th, as a co-organizer, at the Legislative Assembly of the State of Pará (Alepa), in a solemn session organized in partnership with the Human Rights Commission. This Thursday, the 14th, the secretary also participates, as a co-organizer, in a ceremony for the youth of Belém.
On the 19th, Seirdh will hold a lecture on youth and COP 30 at the Usina da Paz in Castanhal. Finally, on the 25th, the secretary will be in the municipality of Ponta de Pedras for the institutionalization session of Youth Week.
