With a performance full of charisma, reflections, and musical moments, actress and singer Nany People moved and made the audience laugh at the Multivozes Arena on the night of this Monday (18), during the 28th Pan-Amazonian Book and Multivoices Fair, promoted by the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Culture (Secult). The event runs until Friday (22), at Hangar – Amazon Convention and Exhibition Center, in Belém.

An icon of the Brazilian LGBTQIA+ scene, Nany delivered an interactive and sensitive presentation, blending songs, personal memories, and powerful speeches about identity, art, and literature. Dressed in a shiny costume and holding a fan, she was welcomed with warm applause and led the show with humor and sensitivity, while images displayed on the big screen illustrated her journey.

Literature as Liberation

During the presentation, Nany highlighted the importance of reading in her life and artistic journey. “I was taught the habit of reading, and I read a lot and everything. I managed to read The Divine Comedy with a mythology dictionary and the Aurélio beside me. I didn’t understand everything, but I read. Literature liberates and ignites something called imagination. And that makes us dream,” said the artist.

She also celebrated the grandeur of the Book Fair. “I am very happy because it is a fair with this power and, above all, it speaks about knowledge, which is our key to overcoming barriers, situations, conditions, and frustrations,” said Nany.

Belém and the Love for Círio

When talking about her relationship with the capital of Pará, the host city of the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP 30), Nany revealed her admiration for Belém and its cultural manifestations. “When I came to see the Círio, I fell in love. I had a love affair that I even recount in my new book. There are several photos of the Círio,” she shared.

At the end of the presentation, the artist left an inspiring message to the audience: “Dreams may not pay the bills, but they are certainly the greatest financiers to free our souls. When we dream, we go after overcoming the condition of the possible.”

Autograph Session and Connection with the Audience

Right after the show, Nany People welcomed fans for an autograph session of her book “Being a Woman Is Not for Everyone – The Saga Continues,” released this year. The work gathers accounts of the artist's achievements after 50, reaffirming her journey of overcoming and protagonism.

Among those present, pedagogue Ibrahim Neto, 35, highlighted the importance of the artist's representativity. “She is a great representative of the LGBTQIA+ community. She has charisma, presence, and diverse experiences. Today I project my old age with her experience,” he stated.
