Vice Governor visits the Women's Hospital celebrating over 150 thousand appointments
A reference unit in women's health has been in operation for 4 months, contributing to the strengthening of the state public network
The Women's Hospital of Pará (HMPA) received, on this Tuesday (19), the visit of Vice Governor Hana Ghassan. The State Secretary of Public Health, Ivete Vaz, and the Deputy Secretary of Health Policy Management of Sespa, Heloisa Guimarães, were also present.
In operation for only four months, the unit has already recorded over 150 thousand appointments, including consultations, surgeries, exams, and emergency services for cases of sexual and domestic violence, as well as gynecological emergencies accompanied by vital sign changes, establishing itself as a reference in comprehensive care for the health of Pará women.
During the visit, the vice governor emphasized the relevance of the hospital for strengthening the state health network. “This hospital is a milestone in the health of the State of Pará and is an important instrument for care, prevention, and effective support for our Pará women. Therefore, it is very important to be here, to talk to the patients, and I am very happy to hear the testimonies of the women who are being treated, and we will not stop. We know there is much to be done, but it is very good to see that we are on the right track, through this hospital and so many others that are being built by the State,” she emphasized.
Among the patients who accompanied the visit was housewife Elen dos Reis, from the Águas Lindas neighborhood in Ananindeua, who was waiting for a consultation and approved the service of the health unit. “I was referred from a health post in my neighborhood because I am feeling abdominal pain, fatigue, and discomfort, so I have already done my exams here, I am really enjoying it, I was well attended, and now I am having my consultation to start my treatment. Here we feel respected and well cared for,” evaluated the patient.

The general director of HMPA, Nelma Machado, highlighted that the unit was planned to ensure specialized care. “The Women's Hospital is the result of a project that seeks to offer comprehensive care always focusing on the humanization of service. Our goal is to take care of women's health at all stages of life,” explained the manager.
Service: To be treated at the Women's Hospital, the patient must first seek a Basic Health Unit (UBS) or another health unit in the municipality where she resides, or seek a medical referral at a Usina da Paz. The Women's Hospital of Pará is located at Avenida Gentil Bittencourt, No. 2175, São Brás neighborhood, in Belém.
