Man arrested by the Civil Police in Rondon do Pará for environmental crime
The action caught the existence of 57 furnaces, of which 11 were in full operation and activity without any authorization from the competent environmental agency

A man was arrested in Rondon do Pará on Tuesday (19) during the "Protected Amazon" operation, launched by the Civil Police of Pará, through the Secure Amazon Task Force. The suspect was caught in the act for environmental crime, and the arrest was supported by the Organized Crime Repression Division (DRCO).
"Our teams were in the municipality conducting investigations aimed at verifying alerts of deforestation generated by the Brazil Mais platform. During the investigative work, we came across a charcoal factory in full operation, transporting and burning forest material of illegal origin. At the time of the police intervention, we confirmed the existence of 57 furnaces, of which 11 were in full operation and activity without any authorization from the competent environmental agency," detailed delegate Acácio Neto, director of the Secure Amazon Task Force.

At the site, the police seized four chainsaws with blades and various control documents and production records, which will serve as evidence of the irregular activity.
"We were also able to demonstrate that there is intense logging exploitation in different areas of the rural zone of Rondon do Pará, with part of the forest material being used to feed the charcoal factory and the other part employed in various types of illegal exploitation, with absolute absence of authorization from the competent environmental agency. Therefore, our investigations continue with the aim of identifying other individuals involved and those responsible for the environmental criminal chain," pointed out delegate Iuri Castro.

The arrested individual was taken to the Rondon do Pará Police Station, where the arrest record was drawn up and where he remains at the disposal of the Judiciary.
