Throughout all the days of the 28th Pan-Amazonian Book Fair and Multivozes, hundreds of students and teachers visit the space. In the Multivozes Arena, every morning is dedicated to school presentations. This Wednesday (20), teachers Elaine Casseb and Eléa Diniz from the Acalanto Pedagogical Unit accompanied classes from Kindergarten 1 in a presentation focused on June traditions.

“We decided together to select elements of our culture, our regionality, our knowledge, especially emphasizing the indigenous narrative of the Cobra Grande, which highlights the poetics that come from our rivers, our forests, as well as making reference to the Arraial do Pavulagem, this beautiful movement that takes place in Belém,” says Elaine Casseb. The group presented the dance “The June Drag between the indigenous narrative of the Cobra Grande and the Arraial do Pavulagem.”

Eléa Diniz highlights that the project engaged families and the scientific, bibliographic work done in the classroom, as well as the concern for sustainability in the making of the costumes. “We tried to use sustainability, cardboard, fabrics that we repurposed. The families helped us with this, even our relatives who are artisans, we mobilized the entire school community and it worked out,” concludes the teacher.

In addition to this, there were also performances such as “Mestre Damasceno: the carimbúfalo procession” from the Prof. Orlando Bitar Early Childhood Education Reference Center; the project “Barõezinhos do Rio Branco” from EEEF Barão do Rio Branco, and the carimbó “Rain is a Verse that Falls” from EMEF Ayrton Senna. In total, more than 30 public schools will perform at the Multivozes Arena.

Visitation - Beyond the official participations, dozens of schools bring students of different age groups to establish a connection with literature from an early age. Marcela Castro, a teacher at the Antônio Lemos School in the municipality of Santa Izabel do Pará, brought students from the third year of high school for a cultural day in Belém.

“Cultural facilities are public policies and are for all audiences, but often we, as civil society, do not understand that these facilities need to be used by us, they need to be enjoyed by us. And when the student is from the interior of the state, it is much harder for them to understand that it is also for them. So, as teachers, we want them to have contact with books, with culture, something that is for everyone,” says Marcela.

“The Pan-Amazonian Book Fair is already a tradition at our school, every year a group of students comes with me and Professor Ednei. But this year a different mobilization happened, all the teachers of the third years organized so that there would be this graduation ball, this farewell. Everyone is here, including some who had never come to the fair before,” concludes the teacher.

Student Stephanie Sulani, 17, says she is also bringing items for friends and family. “I went after my mangas and finally found the ones I really wanted and I found it very interesting because I met a lot of people interested in literature, in the geek world, in Brazilian and foreign works and I was very happy about that. I’m from Santa Izabel, there aren’t as many literary events as I would like and I have friends who, when I told them I was coming to the Book Fair, asked me to buy books for them and I managed to get some for those who couldn’t come with me, but I’m bringing a little bit from here for them,” she says.

The 28th Pan-Amazonian Book Fair and Multivozes will run until Friday (22), with free entry from 9 am to 10 pm, with access until 9 pm.
