Fapespa warns of the deadline for submitting proposals to Connect Amazônia

Researchers from Scientific, Technological and Innovation Institutions (ICTs) located in Pará have until next Friday (22) to submit their proposals to the supplementary call of the Connect Amazônia Notice. Launched with the aim of fostering scientific research projects aligned with the public policies of Science, Technology and Innovation of the Government of Pará, with an emphasis on promoting the internationalization of research groups and institutions, the Notice is promoted by the Amazon Foundation for Support to Studies and Research of Pará (Fapespa), in collaboration with the University of Birmingham (UoB).

The Public Call No. 011/2025 is part of the Engage Amazônia 2025 Program. The multidisciplinary initiative seeks to establish lasting collaborations in key areas such as climate change, deforestation, bioeconomy, nature-based solutions, and land conflicts. The program aims to generate scientific results applicable to the Amazon context while strengthening the presence of Pará's academic production on the global stage.

With a state investment of over R$ 248 thousand, the supplementary call opens opportunities for more effective researchers linked to Pará's ICTs to submit their projects with proposals for the development of science, technology, and innovation actions in partnership with researchers linked to the University of Birmingham.

“The supplementary call was launched so that more projects can be selected within the scope of international cooperation and within the limits of financial resources provided for the development of collaborative research, and that new international partnerships are strengthened in the State of Pará,” explains Deyvison Medrado, Scientific Director of Fapespa.

International cooperation – The Connect Amazônia call is one of the actions provided for in the International Cooperation Agreement for Research, Development, and Innovation (PD&I) No. 001/2025, signed between the Government of Pará, Fapespa, and the University of Birmingham.

The partnership with the British university is one of the efforts of the state government, through Fapespa, to expand the global reach of Pará's state system of science, technology, and innovation, reinforcing its role in developing solutions for Amazonian challenges. “The Connect Amazônia is an opportunity for Pará researchers to establish and strengthen connections and partnerships, so that research groups become more robust in terms of internationalization,” says Deyvison Medrado.

The announcement of the final result of the call is scheduled for September 25, which may be subject to changes depending on the progress of the technical analysis.
