A delegation from the municipality of Itupiranga, in southeastern Pará, was in Belém for a meeting with the president of the Institute for Forest Development and Biodiversity (Ideflor-Bio), Nilson Pinto. Led by Vice Mayor Samuel Nunes, the visit aimed to strengthen relations with the state agency, seeking technical and institutional support for the establishment of nurseries and the strengthening of Agroforestry Systems (SAFs) in villages and districts of the municipality.

The municipal secretary of Agriculture, Aguiberto Alves, also participated in the meeting, highlighting the need to expand sustainable production alternatives in Itupiranga. The expectation is that the partnership will directly contribute to the local economy, providing conditions for family farmers to diversify their crops and improve their income while collaborating with environmental conservation.

Ideflor-Bio, through the Forest Chain Development Directorate (DDF), operates in various fronts of restoration and reconstitution of altered areas throughout Pará. The Agroforestry Systems Program (PROSAF) is one of the most relevant initiatives, as it combines environmental and social benefits, promoting the recovery of degraded ecosystems and encouraging low-impact agricultural practices.

During the meeting, strategies were discussed for the creation of nurseries in Itupiranga, aimed at the production of native and fruit seedlings to supply local production systems. In addition, cooperation with Ideflor-Bio provides support in technical training and monitoring of agroforestry projects, strengthening family agriculture and food security in the region.

Strategy - "It is essential when a municipality seeks support from Ideflor-Bio to implement projects that unite production, conservation, and social development. SAFs are an intelligent strategy to recover degraded areas, generate income, and strengthen family agriculture. We are ready to work side by side with Itupiranga, offering technical knowledge and building solutions that make a difference for local communities," emphasized the president of Ideflor-Bio, Nilson Pinto.

The initiative represents an opportunity to consolidate new land use practices, reducing pressure on areas of native forest and encouraging sustainable production models. For Itupiranga, strengthening SAFs is also a bet on social development, as it seeks to improve the quality of life of rural communities and enhance local agricultural production.
