By the end of the year, the local office of the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company of the State of Pará (Emater) in Dom Eliseu, on the Rio Capim, projects an amount of over R$ 5 million in rural credit from the National Program for Strengthening Family Agriculture (Pronaf) for beef cattle farming in the municipality. Activities such as corn and soybean planting have also been showing good financing conditions. Many of the beneficiary families are settlers from the agrarian reform.

The projects of lines A and More Food developed by Emater for individual contracts of up to R$ 100 thousand consider partnerships with the Bank of the Amazon (Basa), the Bank of Brazil (BB), and the Cooperative Credit Service (Sicred). The estimate for 2025 represents an increase of over 30% compared to the contracted amount in 2024.

Forum

The performance and results data from the Government of Pará regarding resources for small and medium rural producers in the municipality were highlighted in the program of the II Regional Forum on Financing Family Agriculture, held on Monday (18), at the João Almeida da Silva Júnior Cultural Center, in the Centro neighborhood, by Emater.

Also supporting as partners of the Forum were the cellulose manufacturer Suzano, the Municipal Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Semagri), and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) Public Agenda, Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (Cgiar), and Partners for the Amazon (PPA).

Present at the opening ceremony, the supervisor of the regional office of Emater in São Miguel do Guamá, agronomist Wildson de Moraes, spoke to about 100 farmers from Dom Eliseu and Rondon do Pará, also on the Rio Capim, and Bom Jesus do Tocantins and São João do Araguaia, in the Carajás region. The four municipalities are part of the action radius of the Rural Territorial Development Program (PDTR) of Suzano.

“The dialogue among all social actors, including public-private partnerships [ppp], regarding the strengths and weaknesses of the implementation of public policy for rural credit for family agriculture is extremely important for us to define guidelines and build solutions together,” points out the head of the local Emater office in Dom Eliseu, agricultural technician Raimundo Salazar.

Salazar explains that currently, the infrastructure of Emater in Dom Eliseu, in terms of human resources with specialized training and technological apparatus, is one of the differentiating factors for facilitating and accelerating the intermediation for granting credit: “The know-how of our specialists, for example, is strategic for dealing with one of the main bottlenecks: the environmental issue, the adequacy of properties and production systems. Emater guides the transition to sustainable practices, issues CAR (Rural Environmental Registry), and supports the competencies and services of environmental agencies,” he says.
