Registrations open for the Product Generation Workshop "Nazaré Jewelry Collection 2025"
The workshop aims to stimulate the creation of pieces that resonate with popular faith and Amazonian aesthetics, strengthening the productive chain of the jewelry sector in Pará.
The religious tradition of the Círio de Nazaré, considered the largest manifestation of faith in Brazil, inspires the new edition of the Nazaré Jewelry Collection, a project that unites design, culture, tradition, and religiosity. To mark the beginning of the initiative, the Secretary of Economic Development, Mining, and Energy of Pará (Sedeme), through the São José Liberto Space (ESJL), will promote a workshop themed “Our Lady of Nazaré in the Amazon” on August 27, in Belém. The goal is to stimulate the creation of pieces that resonate with popular faith and Amazonian aesthetics, strengthening the productive chain of the jewelry sector in Pará.
Registrations will be conducted online, through the link, from this Thursday (21) until August 27. There will be 30 spots available. The workshop will take place in the ESJL auditorium, from 2 PM to 6 PM, located at Praça Amazonas, in the Jurunas neighborhood.
The event will be led by jewelry designer and professor at the State University of Pará (Uepa), Dr. Rosângela Gouvêa Pinto, recognized for her authorial work that values Amazonian identity and research in local culture. The activity is aimed at entrepreneurs from the Jewelry Hub — such as designers and goldsmiths — as well as students from the 8th semester of the Bachelor’s Degree in Jewelry Design.
Rosângela Gouvêa Pinto is recognized for her work that unites art, history, and spirituality. The proposal is to offer participants a creative immersion that connects faith, spirituality, and sustainability, exploring elements of Amazonian biodiversity and popular religiosity as sources of inspiration for the development of unique and meaningful pieces.
Rosângela explains that during the workshop, she will address aspects of the history of the largest religious manifestation in Brazil — The Círio de Nazaré — and the pilgrims who honor the patroness of the people of Pará, especially those who maintain the tradition of fulfilling promises. The proposal is to consider the peculiarities and different forms of homage to the patroness.
“This year, with the theme Our Lady in the Amazon, I will also explore elements of our rich biodiversity. Additionally, I will talk a little about the origin of the devotion to the Virgin of Nazaré in Portugal, its journey of how this devotion reached us,” she said.
On this occasion, stories will be shared about people who have long paid homage to the Saint, the types of promises they make, and the graces they receive. I will also provide a brief account of themes and approaches already used in other editions.
Here in the Amazon, Our Lady of Nazaré is deeply connected to popular faith. It is a very strong devotion — everyone makes promises, everyone asks for graces. There are many devotees who keep this tradition alive with great fervor,” she added.
