Utinga State Park is among the 5 most searched in Brazil on the internet and attracts more and more visitors
The prominent position of Utinga State Park in the ranking highlights the strength of nature tourism in the Amazon and reinforces the strategic role of the unit as a space for leisure, environmental education, and preservation.

Utinga Camillo Vianna State Park, in Belém, ranks among the five most searched Conservation Units (UCs) in Brazil on the internet. This is revealed by a recent survey by Bulbe Energia that analyzed the online interest of Brazilians in protected areas. With 96.3 thousand searches in 2024, the Pará park stands out in the national scenario, alongside renowned destinations such as Serra da Capivara (PI), Chapada dos Veadeiros (GO), and Lençóis Maranhenses (MA).
The study indicates a growing trend of connection between the population and natural areas and a significant advance of ecotourism in the country. Searches for the term "conservation unit" increased by 50% in 2024, surpassing the mark of 1 million searches. This virtual interest is also reflected in visitation numbers: the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio) recorded over 25.5 million visits to federal UCs in the last year, a growth of 4.9% compared to 2023.
The prominent position of Utinga State Park in the ranking highlights the strength of nature tourism in the Amazon and reinforces the strategic role of the unit as a space for leisure, environmental education, and preservation of the water resources that supply Belém and part of the Metropolitan Region. "This result shows that Utinga is on the radar of Brazil and the world, as a destination that combines biodiversity, culture, and leisure with quality and safety," says the manager of the Administrative Region of Belém at Ideflor-Bio, Júlio Meyer.
Investments - In recent years, Ideflor-Bio has increased investments in the infrastructure of Utinga State Park, aiming to provide more comfort and convenience to visitors. Among the improvements are the modernization of trails, installation of interpretive signage, reinforcement of security, renovation of common areas, and actions to diversify tourist and educational activities. These interventions also help preserve the environment, ensuring that public use occurs sustainably.
In addition to attracting visitors from the capital of Pará, the Park has been gaining more and more national and international prominence. Its proximity to downtown Belém and the offering of activities such as bike rides, trails, wildlife and flora observation, and visits to the Bolonha and Água Preta lakes contribute to its success.
"We are investing not only in infrastructure but also in the experience of those who visit us. We want each person to leave here with positive memories and awareness of the importance of environmental conservation," emphasizes the president of Ideflor-Bio, Nilson Pinto.
The ranking released is led by Cantareira State Park (SP), with 161.4 thousand searches, followed by Serra da Capivara National Park (PI), with 127.1 thousand, and Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park (GO), with 114.6 thousand. Lençóis Maranhenses National Park (MA) appears in fourth place, with 112 thousand, and Utinga State Park occupies the fifth position, surpassing highly visible units such as Serra dos Órgãos (RJ) and Pedra Branca (RJ).

Relevance - Created in 1993, Utinga State Park plays a fundamental role in protecting the water sources that supply about 70% of the water consumed in the Metropolitan Region of Belém. It is also a hub for environmental education, receiving schools, community groups, and tourists interested in learning about urban Amazonia and its peculiarities. The integration between conservation and public use makes the UC an example of environmental management aligned with social well-being.
Júlio Meyer states that Ideflor-Bio's expectation is that, with the growing interest in ecotourism and the consolidation of the park as a reference destination, visitation will continue to increase in the coming years. "We are working to strengthen partnerships, expand volunteer projects, and promote cultural and sports events, ensuring that Utinga remains a vibrant and dynamic space for everyone," concluded the manager.
