The Public Regional Hospital of the East (HRPL), in Paragominas, provided 213 services to indigenous peoples in the first half of this year alone. The service included consultations, exams, and hospitalizations, covering patients from the 3rd and 5th Regional Health Centers, and reinforces the commitment of the Government of Pará to ensure comprehensive, humanized, and culturally sensitive assistance to these populations.

The HRPL's healthcare director, Karla Negrão, emphasized that the care provided goes beyond the technical aspect, seeking to value the traditions and specificities of each patient.
“Our commitment is to offer excellent care, combined with a humanized reception that is sensitive to the specificities of indigenous peoples. This is a work that requires active listening, respect, and cultural appreciation, so that each patient truly feels cared for and safe in our unit,” she stated.

User satisfaction confirms the results. Diego Tembé, 36 years old, son of the chief of the Bate Vento village, highlighted his trust in the service. “I feel safe being treated at HRPL. The professionals are committed, qualified, and provide humanized care, with agility and good communication,” he said.

For Aldenora Carneiro, 74 years old, from the Cajueiro indigenous community, the experience at the hospital was also positive. “I came for an outpatient consultation and was very satisfied. The professionals are attentive and polite, I felt safe. The reception is excellent,” she highlighted.

Training for differentiated care

With the aim of strengthening the quality of care, HRPL promoted this year the training “Indigenous Health: Interculturality in Network,” aimed at its employees. The training, conducted by the Permanent Education Center with the participation of local indigenous leaders, involved 222 professionals from different areas of the unit.

Reference structure for the region

HRPL has 70 beds, distributed among Surgical Clinic, Medical Clinic, and adult ICU. The unit provides services in various specialties, such as Neurology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Oncology, General Surgery, and Bucomaxillofacial, in addition to outpatient consultations in Cardiology, Urology, Endocrinology, Mastology, and Gynecology.
