Traffic is diverted on Rua da Marinha, starting from Augusto Montenegro, for the new road works
The first phase of the closure on Rua da Marinha continues until September 9 and is part of the project for the new road corridor that will connect to Avenida Centenário

Starting at 8 AM next Monday (25), traffic on the first 500 meters of Rua da Marinha, starting from Avenida Augusto Montenegro, will be closed to continue the works on the New Rua da Marinha in Belém. The project, considered one of the legacies of the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30) for the capital of Pará, will connect the road to Avenida Centenário, transforming the area into a major urban mobility corridor.
At this initial stage, the closure will be between Avenida Augusto Montenegro and Rua Maravalho Belo, with an expected completion date of September 9. Traffic changes will be made gradually, every 500 meters, to ensure safety and reduce impacts on traffic.

During this period, vehicles will be directed to the already completed lane of the New Rua da Marinha, which has received earthworks, asphalt paving, surface drainage, sidewalks, horizontal and vertical signage, as well as a central median. During the detour, the new lane will also feature an exclusive parking space for residents of the area.
“The progress of the works follows the schedule and all technical criteria to ensure the safety of workers, residents, and drivers. Some measures need to be taken regarding the traffic detour, and the measures have been communicated to the competent authorities to minimize the impact and ensure quick adaptation,” explained the Deputy Secretary of Public Works of Pará, Gilmar Mota.

The project – The extension and duplication of the New Rua da Marinha will be 3.5 kilometers long. Executed by the State Department of Public Works (Seop), the project will reduce congestion, increase road safety, decrease travel time in Belém and the Metropolitan Region, and strengthen urban development.
The road will feature two lanes in each direction, each consisting of three traffic lanes, as well as a bike lane and accessible sidewalk. The project also includes horizontal and vertical signage, recessed bus stops with informational totems, and new LED lighting, providing more comfort and safety for the population.
