With the aim of strengthening food security and promoting better practices in the productive sector, the Government of Pará, through the Secretary of Social Assistance, Labor, Employment and Income (Seaster), held a week of training focused on workplace safety and good practices for food handling.

The training took place at the community restaurant 'Prato Popular', managed by Seaster, located in the Marambaia neighborhood in Belém. The initiative was aimed at entrepreneurs and workers in the food sector, contributing to technical improvement and increased quality in the services provided to the population.

Opportunity

During the week, more than 30 participants had access to essential content for the safe and efficient performance of their functions in the food sector. Various topics were covered, including workplace safety, good practices for food handling, food preservation, and food microbiology.

The initiative aims not only to ensure consumer safety but also to expand opportunities for the insertion and retention of professionals in the job market, aligning the training offered with public policy for promoting employment and income.

“Regarding food handling, I think it is a very good thing, not only for us but for the population. Because we need to create the habit of good handling and hygiene. After all, this will greatly improve health, and often people do not pay attention to this simple detail of cleanliness and organization,” said student Leila Soares.

Actions like this reinforce the current administration's commitment to sustainable development and continuous qualification of workers, especially in strategic sectors like food.

“We work towards more opportunities and qualifications for workers in various sectors of our State, through workshops, lectures, and other activities. The course offered at the Government's popular restaurant, managed by Seaster, is yet another great opportunity we provide to professionals who deal directly and routinely with something as important as food, in addition to learning more about its properties and proper handling,” emphasized Seaster's head, Inocêncio Gasparim.
