The Environmental Policing Command (CPA) of the Military Police of Pará held the 1st Urban Greening Workshop in Belém, with the theme "Strategic Guidelines for the development of an Interinstitutional Technical Cooperation Agreement aimed at urban greening." The meeting aimed to strengthen the dialogue between public institutions, private sector, civil society, and the academic community in building strategies to expand the greening of the capital of Pará and ensure a better quality of life for the population.

The event is part of the actions of the Resilient Green Cities Program (PCVR) and presents to participants the National Urban Greening Plan (PlaNAU), which is being developed by the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MMA). The plan seeks to expand vegetation cover in urban areas, promote biodiversity, address the effects of the climate crisis, and enhance environmental heritage.

Among the main points discussed, emphasis was placed on the creation of a seedling nursery to meet the demands of the Metropolitan Region of Belém, the definition of priority areas for greening, and the discussion on the health of existing trees. Continuous technical training for environmental agents and seed collectors was also promoted, along with the involvement of teachers and students from the State University of Pará (UEPA).

The workshop also had a social and educational character, including in its program the training of military police officers from the CPA and the participation of children and adolescents served by the PMZITO social project, developed by PMPA in different neighborhoods of the capital of Pará.

According to the commander of the CPA, Colonel Orlandino, the initiative reinforces the Military Police's commitment to environmental preservation and the safety of the population. "With this action, we demonstrate to the population that policing goes beyond visibility and crime prevention, also reaching the promotion of more sustainable and resilient cities. The PM is also committed to the environment."
