Action by the Secretary of Justice (Seju) for drug prevention training in Afuá on Marajó Island

The State Secretary of Justice (Seju) carried out educational and training actions for drug prevention in the municipalities of Afuá, on Marajó Island, and Belém last Thursday (28). The activities are part of the programming for the Pará Week for Prevention and Combat of Drug Use, which began on August 27 and runs until September 2.

In Belém, the action took place at the State School Governor Alexandre Zacharias de Assumpção, in the Guamá neighborhood

In Belém, the action took place at the State School Governor Alexandre Zacharias de Assumpção, in the Guamá neighborhood, and involved the participation of fifty students, who learned about the “Prevention 360º” project, carried out by the Coordination of Prevention, Treatment, and Reduction of Drug Use (Cenpren), linked to Seju. The project presents an integrated approach to various social and psychological factors, aiming to raise awareness about the risks of chemical dependency.

The head of Seju, Evandro Garla, spoke with the students and emphasized the importance of being informed about the risks of using chemical substances and understanding the impact of choices that affect physical and mental health. “The use of drugs can have lifelong consequences, so if you have doubts about the effects or feel pressured to consume, seek help from family, friends, teachers, the services of the Secretary of Justice, and other agencies that work on this issue,” he reinforced.

The project also encourages the development of a life project, based on vocations and purposes evaluated by each student. “It’s interesting because it makes us think about our future in a few years, what we need to pursue or avoid to achieve this project,” evaluates Alexandre Silva, a high school student at the school.

Challenges and Participation - In Afuá, in the Marajó Region, an educational action was held with more than 20 students from the municipal network on the theme “Drugs: awakening to reality,” which encourages the development of socio-emotional skills that strengthen individuals against external pressures to consume chemical substances. Training was also provided on the theme “Drugs and Social Sustainability: challenges for an integrated policy,” which involved the participation of forty professionals from the prevention network.

The social worker of Seju, Andreia Siqueira, explains that both activities address the essence of the Pará Week against drugs, encouraging new perspectives on the issue. “The proposal seeks to broaden the vision of the scenario, stimulate participation, dialogue, and collective idea building, promoting reflection, sensitive listening, and a more conscious and integrated action with local realities,” she states.
