HRPL concludes "August Lilac" with action against violence against women
Educational activity was aimed at users and companions and took place in the central reception of the unit
In reference to the campaign "August Lilac", which aims to confront violence against women and encourage reporting, the Regional Public Hospital of the East (HRPL), in Paragominas, promoted an educational action aimed at users and companions in the central reception of the unit. The activity took place last Friday (29) and was conducted by nurse Rafaela Cecília Sodré, from the Permanent Education Center (NEP) of the hospital.
The professional emphasizes that the month of August is dedicated to informing and raising awareness among women about their rights, reinforcing the importance of reporting situations of violence through official channels, such as Disque 180 – Women’s Assistance Central.
“It is necessary to reflect on the necessary changes for the construction of a fairer, safer, and more equal society for all women. The fight against gender violence is everyone’s responsibility,” concluded the professional.
Approval - Among those reached by the action was Marianita Gomes, 77 years old. She mentioned that she was already aware of the campaign and emphasized that the theme is urgent given the stigma still faced by women in society.
“People still treat women as inferior beings, as if we should only stay at home, in the kitchen, but we can do anything and occupy all spaces,” she pointed out.
The retiree added that she has witnessed cases of violence against women but was able to make a report. “It is necessary to act and not remain silent,” she stated.
