Cultural Foundation of Pará opens registration for pinhole photography workshop
Handmade and analog photographic techniques, using handmade dark cameras, will be passed on to participants at the Curro Velho Workshop Center
The Cultural Foundation of Pará (FCP) has opened registrations for the photography workshop "Pinhole: a chance of imagination," which will take place from September 8 to 26, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, at the Curro Velho Workshop Center in Belém. Registration is free and can be done until the next day 4 (Thursday), through an electronic form available here.
"Pinhole: A Chance of Imagination" will cover handmade and analog photographic techniques, using handmade dark cameras, creating photograms, and assembling pinhole cameras with lab development. The activity aims to promote understanding of the history of photography and its transformations, as well as the fundamental elements of photographic language.

"The goal is for the student to understand and know the process of image formation using a dark camera. After this understanding, we move on to understanding how the image transforms within this equipment. With this, we will proceed to the construction of pinhole cameras, so that we can practically start experimenting with this process of camera and image construction," informs instructor Joyce Nabiça.
The photographer explains that the pinhole camera is a simple device that does not use a lens. The image is formed through a small hole (the "pinhole"), which projects light onto photographic paper or film. Due to the absence of a lens, the process requires a longer exposure time, resulting in unique images with their own aesthetic.
Free of charge - Registration for the workshop is free for students from public schools (Elementary and High School), users of Infocentro, children under 12 years old, people with disabilities (PCDs), and seniors aged 60 and over. It is necessary to present proof of enrollment or a school ID at the time of registration. For students from private schools, university students, and other interested parties, a symbolic fee of R$ 20.00 will be charged, to be paid in cash at the time of in-person confirmation.
Registration must be done online, in a practical and accessible manner. However, the spot will only be guaranteed upon in-person confirmation on September 4, at the Curro Velho secretary's office. Registrants will receive an email on September 3 with instructions for attendance. At the time of confirmation, it is necessary to present ID, CPF, proof of residence, documents that guarantee exemption (if applicable), and pay the fee, if applicable.
