Amazônia Jazz Band holds educational concert for students in Marabá
The action by the Government of Pará involved 19 public schools and reinforced access to musical culture among children and adolescents in the region

The Government of the State of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Culture (Secult), promoted an educational concert by the Amazônia Jazz Band (AJB) on the afternoon of this Thursday (5) at the Eduardo Abdelnor Municipal Theater in Marabá. The performance brought together students from 19 public schools in an activity that combined art, education, and appreciation of instrumental music.
Under the direction of conductor Eduardo Lima, the Big Band of Theatro da Paz entertained children and adolescents with a repertoire that mixed regional rhythms and classics of international music. The conductor also led moments of explanation about the musical instruments, highlighting their role within the band.
“I was very moved, the Amazônia Jazz Band was very moved to pass on the culture of our State through music to these children,” declared Eduardo Lima.

Unforgettable experience for students
The highlight of the performance was the interpretation of the song Voando pro Pará, by singer Joelma, which drove the young audience into a frenzy in an animated collective chorus. For the director of the Rio Tocantins Military Supervision College (CMRIO), Gilda Rios, the initiative generates positive and lasting impacts.
“Today, their participation in this event is significant for them; they leave here wanting more. This event opens their horizons. And leaving the capital as you did, coming to the interior and broadening our students' horizons is of great value,” she stated.
Musical training continues with workshops and closing concert
The Amazônia Jazz Band's program in Marabá continues until September 6. This Friday (5), the musicians will hold an Instrumental Workshop focusing on drums, trombone, percussion, saxophone, and trumpet. The activity will be taught by members Tiago Belém, Bruno Nery, Claudio Costa, Vinicius Ribeiro, Laelson Machado, Anderley Canuto, Gerson Levy, and Wilklenson Bezerra. Registrations must be made in person at the Fundação Casa da Cultura de Marabá.
