State delivers paving of PA-220 and ensures greater mobility for Maracanã
The state highway now totals 54 kilometers of paved and signposted roads. The project generated over 250 jobs, contributing to the local economy.

Governor, public authorities, and residents celebrate a new era in the mobility of the Maracanã region
The State Government delivered, on the afternoon of this Saturday (6), another stretch of paving of the PA-220, in the municipality of Maracanã, northeastern Pará. With this completion, there are now 54 kilometers of paved and signposted roads, ensuring more safety, mobility, and quality of life for thousands of residents in the region.

“Today we are here to complete this important work for Maracanã and the surrounding cities; this road will change the region, integrate communities, bring tourism, create new opportunities, facilitate the flow of family agriculture, and promote development for this region,” informed Governor Hana Ghassan.

“It is very important to be a State that invests; our commitment is to advance with new works, new roads to reinforce the infrastructure and mobility of this region with more safety. A road like this is synonymous with progress, education, and development,” pointed out Vice Governor Hana Ghassan.

Title of citizens of Maracanã
During the ceremony, Governor Helder Barbalho and Vice Governor Hana Ghassan received the title of citizens of Maracanã, granted by the City Council in recognition of the work done for the benefit of the city. Also present were First Lady Daniela Barbalho, the Mayor of Maracanã, Reginaldo Carreta, as well as state secretaries, councilors, and other municipal authorities.
The Secretary of Infrastructure and Logistics, Adler Silveira, highlighted the importance of the work for regional integration. “This is an investment that goes beyond asphalt. We are talking about development, facilitating the flow of agricultural production, and giving dignity to those who depend on this highway every day. More than 250 jobs were created, and the new bridge over the Caripi River, in Vila Santa Maria, reinforces the structure of PA-220. It is the government working for those who need it most,” stated the secretary.
The paving of the stretch of PA-220 covers 12 kilometers, directly benefiting the communities of Vila Progresso, Vila Santa Maria, and Vila São João. In addition to the asphalt, the project included the construction of the bridge in Vila Santa Maria over the Caripi River. Located between PA-395 and PA-127, the highway is considered strategic for the integration of northeastern Pará.

Direct benefits
With the completion of this stage, PA-220 now totals 54 kilometers of paved roads, contributing to reduced travel time, economic appreciation of the region, and increased road safety. Housewife Zelina de França, 72 years old, lives at the beginning of the highway, at the junction with PA-127, and celebrated the transformation. “I have lived here for over 20 years. Before it was just mud and holes; it was very difficult to pass through here. Now it’s beautiful, safer, and well signposted. We are very happy; it deserves congratulations,” she said.
The farmer Édson Costa, 42 years old, also emphasized the change. “I have traveled a lot around here; it was difficult. We spent over an hour to get to the other side. When it rained, it was very complicated. Now it’s wonderful; it has reduced the time, thank God,” pointed out the resident.
The delivery of the work reinforces the commitment of the Government of Pará to expand road infrastructure and bring development to all regions of the State.
