Government of Pará delivers over 800 land titles in Maracanã
The measure guarantees legal security to families in the communities and access to social benefits such as rural credit and financing

On this Saturday (6), the Government of Pará, through the Institute of Lands of Pará (Iterpa), delivered 841 definitive land titles to farming families in the municipality of Maracanã, in northeastern Pará. The initiative represents a significant advance in the state land regularization policy, ensuring legal security and the right to property for hundreds of families who live from family farming.

The delivery ceremony was attended by Governor Helder Barbalho and Vice Governor Hana Ghassan, and the action benefited the communities of Km 23, 24, 25, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, and 39, Ramal do Pauxis, Quatro Bocas, Ramal do Rio Grande, São José, Caripi, Vila Cruzeiro, Vila Nova Cristolândia, Vila Pauxis, Vila Peri-Açu, Vila Santa Maria do Caripi, and Vila São Cristóvão.

Governor Helder Barbalho emphasized the importance of delivering the documents. "Today we are making one of the largest deliveries in this entire region in land titles for you here. This is a life dream. People aged 70, 80 years, who have been waiting for decades, and lived in fear of eviction, lived in fear of losing their rural property, faced difficulties in going to the bank to access Pronaf (National Program for Strengthening Family Farming), to access FNO (Constitutional Fund for Financing the North), to be able to go and buy something. Now, with the definitive title, you can beat your chest and say: this land is mine, no one can take it from me, it is my family's heritage, and I will be able to leave it for my children, I will be able to leave it for my grandchildren, and I will be able to invest, because I am investing in what is mine," said the governor.

Vice Governor Hana Ghassan also highlighted the government's commitment to bringing dignity and citizenship to the population. "I want to congratulate, on behalf of Flávio Ricardo and the entire ITERPA (Institute of Lands of Pará) team, for this achievement. If today we can carry out works in all municipalities, it is thanks to the partnership," she said.

On this occasion, the vice governor, who received the title of Citizen of Maracanã from the City Council, also thanked the population for their affection. "Do you know how we can repay? By working harder and harder. It is the way I learned, to repay by working so that we can advance more and more," she added.

The president of the Institute of Lands of Pará (ITERPA), Bruno Kono, noted that land regularization strengthens citizenship and the local economy. “We do not just deliver papers, but hope and security. Each rural title represents dignity, access to credit, and the certainty that, through land security, each family can build a more prosperous future.”

Commitment to Citizenship
The definitive possession of land is a fundamental right that promotes dignity and opens doors to access various public policies. With the title in hand, family farmers in Maracanã will have greater ease in obtaining rural credit, making investments in their properties, and participating in rural development programs, boosting production and improving the quality of life in the countryside. Land regularization is, therefore, an essential pillar for state economic and social development.
Aldenor Pereira de Souza, one of the beneficiaries, expressed relief upon receiving the title and highlighted the importance of this moment for his family and the community. "I was very happy," he declared.

Since 2019, the Government of Pará has already delivered 855 land titles in Maracanã, reaffirming its commitment to citizenship and the appreciation of family farming. This ongoing action demonstrates the priority given to land regularization as a tool for social inclusion and regional development. Iterpa, the agency responsible for coordinating these actions, has played a crucial role in implementing the state's agrarian policy, ensuring that land fulfills its social function and promotes the well-being of rural communities.

The investment in land regularization is part of a larger effort by the state government to equip public service, aiming to improve infrastructure and services offered to the population of Pará. The delivery of land titles in Maracanã is a concrete example of how public management can act to transform the reality of thousands of families, providing them not only with a piece of land but also the hope for a more prosperous and secure future.
