The Educational Program for Resistance to Drugs (Proerd), executed by the Military Police of Pará, has reached the riverine communities of Abaetetuba, in the Tocantins Integration Region, northeastern Pará. On Monday (8), the 31st Battalion of the Military Police began activities in six public schools in the municipality, benefiting 385 children and adolescents - students from the 5th and 7th grades.

The first class took place at the Municipal School São João Batista, in the Rio Campopema area, where 26 5th-grade students participated in the activities. In the region, students arrive at educational institutions by boats, a reality that highlights the challenge and importance of the Program in reaching children in hard-to-access areas.

“It is a challenge to implement Proerd here in the islands, in the riverine region of Abaetetuba. The mission is very rewarding because we can see in the children's faces the need they have to learn and share this knowledge. Receiving all this affection and care is priceless. The work is challenging, but it is very rewarding,” highlighted PM Corporal Luciane, the Program instructor.

Values - The classes will continue until December 2025, with specific curricula according to the students' age group. The content is designed to encourage safe, healthy, and responsible choices, as well as to reinforce social and disciplinary values.

Developed by trained military police officers, Proerd aims to prevent drug use, combat violence, and strengthen citizenship. The initiative strengthens the partnership between school, family, and the Military Police, contributing to the formation of conscious citizens prepared for the challenges of life in society.
