The Governor of the State, Helder Barbalho, accompanied the Minister of Education, Camilo Santana, on a visit to the works of Porto Futuro II and Parque da Cidade in Belém this Thursday (11). The two projects are structural milestones of the legacy that Pará delivers to the population on the occasion of the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30), which will be held in the capital of Pará in November this year.

The works are in the final phase, with 98% completion at Porto Futuro II and 99% at Parque da Cidade. During the agenda, the governor highlighted the symbolism of the visit and the direct impact of the structures on the lives of the people of Pará.

“It was a quick visit, but it allows the minister to feel the atmosphere surrounding Belém during this period leading up to COP30. We had time to bring Minister Camilo Santana to closely check the progress of the works at Parque da Cidade and Porto Futuro II,” emphasized Governor Helder Barbalho.

Porto Futuro II will have museums, an innovation center, and a gastronomic hub

With a total area of 50,000 m², Porto Futuro II brings together five completely revitalized historic warehouses. The spaces will house the Amazon Bioeconomy and Innovation Park, the Museum of the Amazons, the Caixa Cultural, and the Gastronomic Port. The delivery of the complex is scheduled for October, strengthening the integration between culture, science, green economy, and tourism.

Parque da Cidade has already received over 670,000 visitors

During the visit, the governor guided the minister through the Gastronomy Center building, which offers a broad view of Parque da Cidade, the area that will concentrate the Green Zone and the Blue Zone of COP30.

Located on the site of an old airport in the capital, the park occupies 500,000 m², with over 2,500 trees planted and an extensive leisure area, delivered to the population in June. The space received more than 670,000 visitors in less than two months and hosted public actions during the school holidays, serving around 10,000 children, teenagers, and elderly people by August.

Since August 18, Parque da Cidade has been under the management of the federal government and the UN, for the preparation of the structures and accreditation for COP30.
