On the morning of this Thursday (11), Pará won its first medal at the 2025 Youth Games in Brasília (DF). Cyclist Elisa Carine, 15 years old, secured the bronze in the women's speed event held at Parque Burle Marx. This achievement marks the first podium for the Pará delegation in the largest multi-sport competition in the country for athletes aged 15 to 17, organized by the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB).

“I am very happy with my bronze medal, it was quite difficult. The event featured high-level athletes and I am very pleased with this result. Tomorrow I will compete in another cycling event, the goal is to bring another medal to my State,” celebrated Elisa after her achievement.

Pará delegation debuts in various sports

The Pará delegation is participating in the event with 217 members, including athletes, coaches, and officials, with support from the State Government through the State Secretariat of Sports and Leisure (Seel).

On this Thursday, in addition to cycling, the State also debuted in athletics, swimming, and table tennis. In table tennis, young Ryan Souza, 15 years old, despite losing in the first match, highlighted the learning experience:

“It’s very good to be here, the atmosphere is quite different. Unfortunately, I didn’t win my match, but tomorrow we will try for our first victory and, who knows, aim for a medal in the competition.”

Recognition of the talent of Pará's youth

The Secretary of Sports and Leisure, Cássio Andrade, emphasized the importance of the result and the role of the Games as a showcase for Pará athletes.

“Winning the first medal with Elisa shows the strength of Pará sports and the talent of our youth. More than just reaching the podium, it is important to see our athletes representing Pará with dedication, determination, and enthusiasm in one of the largest competitions in the country. We are confident that more good results will come by the end of the Games,” he highlighted.
