More than 300 users, staff, and collaborators from Santa Casa participate in the actions of the VIII Internal Accident Prevention Week of the Foundation, which this year addresses the theme of sustainability and user awareness about safety practices, as explained by Denise Rosário, president of the Internal Accident Prevention Commission (CIPA).

“Santa Casa has been working with a lot of reinforcement, with advancements in technology, with staff training, and the Week has brought a diverse range of topics, such as mental health, sustainability, and fire prevention. And since our institution will be a support for COP30, the approach to sustainability within the hospital is not only thought for public servants, because, in fact, we have here a diversity of professionals, from interns, residents, temporary staff, permanent staff, plus outsourced workers and, as our speaker said, our 'volantes', who are precisely the users who come here for some consultation or examination. This year, we brought this protagonism, with the perspective of also reaching the user, through instructions on the proper use of public equipment, on how to reduce, on how to utilize,” she emphasized.

With the theme “Adopt the 5Rs of Sustainability - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rethink, and Refuse”, the Week includes lectures, training, and wellness activities aimed at users and staff, who actively participate in the entire program.

“We are here providing some vital knowledge so that the institution's collaborators, as well as all those who use it for its various services, can be safe in fire fighting, in the preventive area, in the area of evacuating the location, evacuating the area, given the whole complexity that is a hospital institution of the size of Santa Casa de Misericórdia. We are here with a very participative audience, which is very gratifying for us, and, as an instructor, I hope that all the knowledge we are passing on helps in the safety of the institution,” stated sub-lieutenant of the Fire Department, Marco Antônio da Silva Costa, who lectured on fire prevention.

Social worker Gisele Batista participated in the program seeking more knowledge for safety in the work environment, which benefits both the staff and the user. “There are minimal things we can do, but they can prevent something more serious from happening. So, it is essential for us to understand this emergency action plan in the hospital and know how to deal with these situations here in our work environment. And, in the end, this knowledge will also help outside, in our daily lives,” she concluded.
