Traffic on Dr. Freitas Avenue, at the intersection with Brigadeiro Protásio Avenue, in Belém, will be closed this weekend for the advancement of drainage works that are part of the investments aimed at the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30), which will be held in November in the capital of Pará.

During the closure period, traffic on Brigadeiro Protásio Avenue will be interrupted in the direction of Av. Júlio César → Av. Dr. Freitas, ensuring the safety of workers, pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers.

Traffic on Brigadeiro Protásio Avenue will only be in the direction of Avenida Dr. Freitas → Avenida Júlio César.

Urban infrastructure – Executed by the State Department of Public Works (Seop), the deep drainage interventions at the intersections of Dr. Freitas, Brigadeiro Protásio, Boulevard, and Duque de Caxias Avenues, in the Marco neighborhood, are essential to ensure greater efficiency in rainwater runoff, reduce damage to road structures, and guarantee better traffic conditions.

The works began with excavations made using shoring techniques, ensuring the safety and stability of nearby structures. High-Density Polyethylene (Pead) pipes, which are more resistant to corrosion and have a greater flow capacity, are also being installed, along with inspection wells and manholes, which will facilitate future maintenance.

The new networks will be connected to the existing systems, ensuring hydraulic continuity and avoiding points of retention or backflow. After the drainage is completed, asphalt and sidewalk restoration services will be carried out in the affected areas.
