Agents from the Integrated River Base Candiru, located in Óbidos, a municipality in western Pará, seized 20.190 kilograms of narcotics, hidden on a vessel coming from the city of Manaus (AM) bound for Belém, on the afternoon of this Sunday (13). The inspections in the region, coordinated by the State Secretariat for Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), through the River Security Group (GFlu), aim to curb criminal activities on the rivers, especially in the Lower Amazon Integration Region, where the Candiru Base, established by the Government of Pará, completes one year of operation.

“Once again our agents identified the volumes that were, in fact, narcotics, hidden among the cargo of a vessel. With this, we managed to carry out another seizure in the Lower Amazon region, by the teams of the Candiru Base, which has completed a year and already adds another drug seizure to its productivity, which has been of utmost importance in combating crime in the region,” said the State Secretary for Public Security and Social Defense, Ualame Machado.
