The Government of Pará has taken another step in preparing for the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30) and in strengthening public policies aimed at indigenous peoples. On this Monday (15), Governor Helder Barbalho inaugurated, in Belém, the EY House, a multisectoral space that will host strategic debates on energy transition, bioeconomy, forests, sustainable supply chains, and social policies during the conference. After the event, the structure will officially become the headquarters of the Secretary of Indigenous Peoples of Pará (Sepi), making the state a pioneer in creating an institutional facility aimed at indigenous peoples. This is yet another direct legacy of COP30, which consolidates the state's permanent presence at the center of environmental and social decisions.

“We are turning an idea into reality with the inauguration of this space, the result of a Public-Private Partnership that guarantees concrete benefits to the peoples of the Amazon. The sustainability agenda we advocate connects ancestry, innovation, and technology, showing that a living forest generates more value than a destroyed forest. It is this commitment that will ensure public policies, mobilize new partners, and structure the future of Pará in the post-COP,” said Helder Barbalho.

Located in Praça Waldemar Henrique, in the Reduto neighborhood, the EY House occupies an area of over three thousand square meters and was designed with sustainable solutions, such as solar energy, rainwater reuse, use of renewable materials, and modular spaces. The space reflects the strategic vision of the state government to transform COP30 into a milestone for sustainable development and the appreciation of the cultural diversity of the Amazon.

The Secretary of Indigenous Peoples of Pará, Puyr Tembé, emphasized the historic reach of the initiative. “This will be the first institutional space for indigenous peoples in the heart of Belém, born from the mobilization around COP30. For us, it means dignity, recognition, and leadership. Sepi will make this place a permanent center for dialogue, articulation, and development of public policies, ensuring that indigenous voices have strength before, during, and after the conference,” she declared.

Luiz Sérgio Vieira, CEO of EY Brazil, highlighted the integration between science, innovation, and social commitment: “The legacy of this project is twofold: first, by creating solutions that generate concrete results for the economy and society; second, by leaving this physical space, in the future, available to the Secretary of Indigenous Peoples of the State of Pará. This is only possible thanks to cooperation with the state government, which transforms this environment into a living platform for dialogue, collaboration, and positive impact for the Amazon and Brazil.”

The EY Sustainability leader for Latin America, Ricardo Assumpção, reinforced that the space reflects a long-term impact agenda. “More than supporting companies in the climate agenda, our commitment is to put people at the center of this transformation, ensuring real impact on the lives of communities and the preservation of the bioeconomy. We need to go beyond good actions focused on the climate and ensure a long-term legacy, uniting businesses, government, and indigenous peoples in a collaborative agenda for sustainability,” he added.
