The reconstruction of Praça Menino Deus, in Marituba, had its first stage delivered in May of this year

More than 50 works have been delivered by the State Government, through the Planning and Administration Secretariat (Seplad), since 2019, in 39 municipalities in Pará, with resources from the Economic Development Fund (FDE). Among the objectives, the following stand out: financing programs and projects for structural investments, reducing regional and social inequalities, ensuring the competitiveness of economic enterprises established in Pará, and enhancing the capacity to attract new investments to the State.

“The management and operationalization of the FDE, under the responsibility of Seplad, constitute an important instrument of public policy of the State government in providing financial support for the economic and social development of all municipalities in Pará. This support and partnership occur through the celebration of agreements for the transfer of resources from the State to the municipalities aimed at the execution and implementation of projects in the areas of infrastructure, sanitation, urban development, and mobility, among others,” explains Euricles Teixeira, deputy secretary of Seplad.

The reconstruction of Praça Menino Deus, in Marituba, which had its first stage delivered in May of this year, is an example of the works funded by the FDE. In this first phase, the areas of the pet place, a space dedicated to leisure with pets, a sensory garden with flowerbeds of plants that stimulate the five senses, a sensory trail, and improvements to the skate park, outdoor gym, playground, sports courts, kiosks, and restrooms were delivered.

A resident of Marituba, administrative assistant Linda França often visits the square with friends and family during leisure time. “I found the part that has already been delivered wonderful, especially the food court and the pet area. My expectation for the complete delivery of the square is that it will be soon so we can enjoy and appreciate this space that is so special for our municipality,” she says.

In Santarém, in western Pará, the 1,640m waterfront was reconstructed and remains an important public facility

The waterfront of the municipality of Santarém, delivered in 2022, is another example of works by Seplad with resources from the FDE. The waterfront has a length of 1,640m, a stretch between Bosque Vera Paz and Av. Augusto Montenegro, and features six piers for docking vessels, two pump houses, and a ramp for launching and retrieving boats and jet skis.

Rural extension worker José Júnior Baía Sarraf emphasizes the importance of a space like this for family gatherings in Santarém, especially on weekends. “We see people walking, riding bicycles, sitting in beach chairs, and other families taking the opportunity to start businesses and offer services there, selling barbecue, food, sandwiches, renting bikes, and electric carts for children. It’s a very family-friendly environment; it’s very peaceful to stroll along the waterfront,” he commented.

IN PROGRESS – Among the main works of Seplad currently underway are: the reconstruction of the Maria do Pará Center in Santarém; the construction of Isolated Water Supply Systems in Rural and Urban Areas of Santa Bárbara do Pará, the Municipal Stadium of Juruti; paving of roads in Acará and reconstructions of the soccer field in Alacilândia in Conceição do Araguaia, as well as the sports court of the Antônio de Freitas Municipal Full-Time School in the municipality, among others.
