State Council on Drugs meeting addresses actions against smoking and guidance for therapeutic communities

The State Council on Drugs (Coned), linked to the State Secretary of Justice (Seju), held an ordinary meeting on Tuesday (16) to plan educational actions against smoking and guidance on the functioning of therapeutic communities. The meeting also evaluated the results of activities carried out during the Pará Week for Drug Use Prevention.

The councilors assessed recent inspections in therapeutic communities aimed at supporting the recovery of drug dependents, and the actions taken by members of the drug prevention network. It was decided that the Council should issue a technical note reinforcing some rules to the communities, especially regarding the prohibition of accepting minors.

Meeting also evaluated the results of the activities of the Pará Week for Drug Use Prevention

Regarding the Pará Week for Prevention and Combat of Drug Use, the vice-president of Coned and ombudsman of Seju, Cimara Vidal, highlighted the collaboration of different state government agencies. She also emphasized that they managed to obtain donations of personal hygiene materials, organized into 200 kits that will be donated to therapeutic communities in different regions of the state. "This mobilization is important to show that, in addition to prevention actions, it is also necessary to observe the supportive role of the support network," she stated.

During the meeting, the director of Justice at Seju, Renata Hage, highlighted that the programming of the Pará Week reached over 4,500 people this year, in addition to coordinating actions with state and federal entities in drug prevention. The Council also deliberated on planning preventive actions against smoking, especially regarding electronic cigarettes, during the COP 30 period, where a large flow of people is expected in Greater Belém.
