Military Police and shopping malls in the Metropolitan Region of Belém conclude crisis management training cycle
In light of major national and international events that Belém will host, the Military Police reinforces, with this unprecedented initiative, the improvement of security teams.

The Military Police of Pará concluded, this Wednesday (17), the training cycle for crisis management situations in shopping malls in the Metropolitan Region of Belém. This pioneering initiative in the State reinforces public-private partnerships and enhances the preparation of security teams in these commercial centers for major events.
The training, which lasted nearly five months, was developed as part of the capital's preparation for major events of national and international significance, such as COP30 (world conference on climate change) this year, sports competitions, and the traditional Círio de Nazaré, which mobilizes millions of faithful every year. During the cycle, different crisis situations were simulated, involving all participating enterprises, with the definition of protocols and guidelines for joint action.

The commander of the Special Police Operations Battalion (Bope), Major Elton Rocha, emphasized that the simulations are part of strategies to qualify the troops. “In addition to bringing training to the security team of the shopping malls, these simulations allow police officers to train in scenarios close to reality, following the tripod that guides our actions: preserving the life of the victim, the police officer, and also the aggressor. Constant training is what guarantees us efficiency and responsibility in each action,” emphasized the major.
Turning point - According to the administrative director of one of the shopping malls and representative of the Brazilian Shopping Centers Association (Abrasce) in Pará, Tony Bonna, the action is considered a turning point. “I have no words to express what this partnership represents. One of the biggest concerns for enterprises like shopping centers is security. Knowing that we have the support of the Military Police, which brought this simulation into the commercial centers, is something unprecedented. There was investment in personnel and materials, and this is exceptional, especially at a time when Belém will host one of the largest climate events in the world, which is COP30. All shopping malls are extremely grateful to the Military Police for this work,” stated Tony Bonna.

Simulated crisis scenarios - During the crisis management exercises, the Special Missions Command (CME), through its operational units, trained different situations in shopping malls in the Metropolitan Region of Belém, including:
1. Pátio Belém Shopping – Hostage robbery
2. Castanheira Shopping – Psychological disturbance
3. Metrópole Ananindeua Shopping – Protest
4. Parque Shopping - Active shooter armed with a rifle
5. Boulevard Shopping - Suicide attempt
6. Grão-Pará Shopping - Explosive device

The practical exercises, which covered the six main causes of major critical events in shopping malls, allowed for alignment of procedures between private security and the Military Police. With the conclusion of the practical phase, the teams are better prepared to protect the population in emergency situations, ensuring that Belém advances in security protocols compatible with the scale of the events it will host.
