The Pará Center for Hemotherapy and Hematology Foundation (Hemopa), through the Regional Hemocenter of Santarém (HRSAN), in partnership with the Municipal Health Department of Juruti, promoted a blood donation campaign in the municipality on September 17 and 18.

The structure for attending volunteers was specially set up for the action, with an exclusive collection room that ensured comfort and safety for donors. The goal is to collect 200 bags of blood, a quantity sufficient to enable up to 800 transfusions in the health network. On the first day alone, 100 bags were collected, with the expectation of repeating the result the next day and reaching the goal.

This initiative is part of the Decentralization project for the Western Region of Pará, developed by Hemopa to expand access for the rural population to blood donation and strengthen the supply of the state blood network. HRSAN is the only hemocenter in the region and serves 22 municipalities, supplying public and private hospitals.

The program was also part of the Sairé Project of HRSAN and included the opening ceremony of the National Traffic Week 2025, bringing together agencies such as the Municipal Traffic Superintendency (SMT), State Department of Transit (Detran), Federal Highway Police (PRF), and the 8th Engineering and Construction Battalion (8th BEC).

The campaign also featured the participation of nursing students from the Master School, who donated blood, and the municipal health secretary of Juruti, Alynne Coutinho, who accompanied the activities.

For donor Fabiola do Vale, the experience was remarkable. “It’s my first time donating blood. I had never had the opportunity before, but now I thought it was important to participate. I have a friend in Santarém who needs blood, and I felt compelled to come donate. I want to keep helping whenever I can,” she reported.

The campaign coordinator and nurse from the Municipal Health Department of Juruti, Roberto Figueira, highlighted the joint mobilization. “We did extensive outreach with the support of companies, merchants, and health posts, as well as the local radio, to also reach the rural communities. Our expectation is to exceed the goal of 200 bags and ensure that everyone can donate with peace of mind,” he stated.

The social worker of the Regional Hemocenter of Santarém, Rejane Dias, emphasized the regional reach of the initiative. “Hemopa Santarém conducted the campaign in Juruti as part of the Decentralization Project for the Western Region of Pará, which already includes four municipalities. The recruitment sector did an intense outreach effort, and we managed to ensure a flow of 120 people per day. Donation is an act of generosity that saves lives and should be understood as a public health policy,” she emphasized.

Service - The campaign reinforced the importance of the partnership between Hemopa, municipal management, and various institutions, uniting efforts to stimulate solidarity and expand access to blood donation in the interior of the State. The Regional Hemocenter of Santarém serves 22 municipalities in the regions of Integration of Baixo Amazonas, Tapajós, and Xingu, supplying transfusion agencies and health units in the West of the State. It is located at Avenida Frei Vicente, No. 696, between Alameda 30 and 31, in the Aeroporto Velho neighborhood. The service is from Monday to Friday, from 7 am to 1 pm.
