HRPL reaffirms commitment to patient safety and records 98.47% satisfaction in 2025
Paragominas unit celebrates World Patient Safety Day with advances in indicators, institutional recognition, and excellence in care
As a reference in various medical specialties and a fundamental pillar in the decentralization of health in Pará, the Regional Public Hospital of the East (HRPL), located in Paragominas, reaffirms on this September 17 — World Patient Safety Day — its commitment to quality care. The unit achieved, in 2025, a satisfaction rate of 98.47%, a result that reflects humanized care, the efficiency of the services provided, and a focus on user safety.
Managed by the Institute Diretrizes in partnership with the State Department of Public Health of Pará (Sespa), HRPL is part of the health network of the Government of Pará and primarily serves users from the 3rd and 5th Regional Health Centers, positively impacting thousands of families in the region.
Excellence in care and welcoming
The unit's care director, Karla Negrão, highlighted the hospital's role as a regional reference in specialties such as neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, oncology, general surgery, and cardiology.
“HRPL has become a reference for the region, offering safe, quality, and patient-centered care. Our commitment is to care responsibly, with warmth and excellence, ensuring that each user receives humanized and effective care. We celebrate this date by reaffirming our mission to serve the community with dedication and respect,” she stated.
Advances in the “Health in Our Hands” project
Committed to the continuous improvement of care, HRPL has been consolidating significant results in the national project Health in Our Hands, an initiative of the Ministry of Health executed via Proadi-SUS, in partnership with reference hospitals and with the technical support of the Beneficente Portuguesa Hub of São Paulo.
Among the advances, a 78% reduction in bloodstream infections (BSI) and the total elimination of urinary tract infections (UTI) stand out.
Due to the results obtained, HRPL was selected among 34 hospitals, out of more than 300 participants nationwide, to expand the project's actions to the Emergency Care sector as well — a recognition that reinforces the management's commitment to the quality of services provided.
State recognition and accreditation
The work of the Infection Control Committee of the unit was also recognized by the State Department of Public Health of Pará (Sespa), with the state certification “Health Services 2025,” for the regularity in reporting Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs) during the year 2024. This recognition directly contributes to the prevention and monitoring of infectious events in the State.
HRPL also maintains the Full Accreditation – Level II certification, granted by the National Accreditation Organization (ONA). The evaluation was conducted using the methodology of the Qualisa Institute of Management (IQG), which certified the unit's compliance with patient safety and integrated management criteria.
User approval
The quality of services is also recognized by those who use the unit. Painter Renan Gomes da Silva, 32, was accompanying his father hospitalized for surgery and highlighted the good experience with the care.
“This is my first time here, and I am really enjoying it. I was anxious when I admitted my father, but seeing the team's dedication to caring for him was very good! I thank God and you for treating us well,” reported the user.
