Focusing on the continuous improvement of services provided to insured individuals and strengthening public management, the Institute of Social Security Management and Protection (Igepps) promotes actions that encourage creativity, teamwork, and the active participation of servers and collaborators in building innovative solutions. Among the initiatives, the workshop "Design Thinking Practice" addresses topics such as innovation in the public sector, innovative mindset, open innovation, artificial intelligence, and innovation networks.

"We are having the opportunity to apply the concepts we have learned here in practice with real problems from the Institute. The idea is that we can create some prototypes of solutions for our real problems by the end of the workshop," explained Marcella Takeshita, social security technician and president of the Innovation and Digital Transformation Committee of Igepps, created in May of this year, with participation from servers from different sectors, to foster a collaborative culture of innovation within the agency.

The work is led by Anna Krüger, a server from the Santa Catarina Court of Justice and a specialist in innovation methodologies and a facilitator of Design Thinking processes. Using the experience gained over more than 20 years in the public sector, she highlighted the use of concrete examples and practices applicable to the reality of Igepps.

"This training provides a step-by-step guide on how to solve problems differently than we did before. It works worldwide, in both private and public agencies, and we have been strongly encouraging this to support improvements in public services. Regarding Igepps, the benefits are numerous and relate to providing collaborative problem-solving, with a greater focus on the user, experimenting with new solutions, and creating a safe space for us to succeed, fail, and implement newer and more experienced solutions," emphasized Krüger.

"I am really enjoying the workshop. It is helping us put ideas and thoughts on paper, and by working in groups, we can think of solutions to improve the work for the benefit of the servers, retirees, and pensioners of the State," analyzed Cynthia Simões, Administration and Finance technician.

As part of the "Leaders of the Future" program, the workshop integrated a series of actions carried out in recent months to value internal knowledge and stimulate the creation of innovative solutions to the challenges of state social security.

"These actions aim not only to modernize internal processes but also to consolidate a more integrated, participatory work environment aligned with the guidelines of digital transformation and innovation in the public sector," said Marcella Takeshita.

Programs

In addition to co-creation workshops, training programs and internal challenges stand out, stimulating the protagonism of professionals in identifying opportunities for improvement in the use of technologies and adopting more efficient and sustainable practices.

"This movement by the Institute to implement Innovation tools is excellent. We embrace the idea with dedication thinking about the enhancement of the services provided to our users," pointed out Alberto Nogueira, coordinator of the Psychosocial Care Center of Igepps, the sector responsible for carrying out social security education actions.

The next step for Igepps will be to implement the "Knowledge Sharing Project" to transform the Institute into a continuous learning ecosystem, encouraging servers to share experiences gained in courses, events, and strategic projects, strengthening the organizational culture and consolidating institutional memory.

Another initiative will be an "Innovation Circuit," which will bring together servers and specialists with the aim of proposing practical and applicable solutions to the main challenges of Igepps and generating concrete results in the short and medium term. The project is expected to enhance the Institute's interaction with universities, startups, and other innovation actors, further strengthening the culture of transformation within the Autarchy.

The appreciation of ideas and the creative potential of each collaborator is seen as a strategic differential for excellence in social security management.

"We believe that training, innovation, and technological investment are the best ways to provide an agile, reliable, and quality service for the users of our social security. Therefore, Igepps has been executing this strategic modernization policy with a focus on valuing servers, aiming for full and satisfactory service to beneficiaries," evaluated Washington Albuquerque, president of the Institute.
