Codec and Sedeme receive presentation of conceptual railway project Açailândia-Barcarena
First meeting reinforces the importance of the role of the Company and Sedeme in articulating projects involving the economic and social interests of Pará

The Economic Development Company of Pará (Codec), together with the Secretary of Economic Development, Mining and Energy (Sedeme), received, this Friday (27), representatives from the company Triunfo Participações e Investimentos S.A., specialized in railway infrastructure projects. The meeting aimed to present to the State Government institutions the conceptual project for the construction of a railway linking Açailândia (MA) to the port of Vila do Conde, in Barcarena.
The presentation was led by Dorival Pagani Junior, director of New Business Development at Triunfo, who shared the initial studies and explained the current stage of the project. According to him, the goal at this moment is to open dialogue with the State and establish cooperation. “We came to present the project so that the State knows the stage of development it is in. And, eventually, we can start cooperating with intelligence, exchanging information and articulating, so that this project can be realized and developed in the future,” he emphasized.
The meeting was attended by the director of Strategy and Institutional Relations of Codec, Pádua Rodrigues, the technical director of the Company, Ruy Klautau, and the director of Concessions of Sedeme, Wilton Teixeira. For the Codec management, initiatives like this reinforce the importance of bringing investors and the State together around structuring projects, even if in the preliminary and conceptual phase.
In this sense, Pádua Rodrigues emphasized that “projects like this reinforce the strategic importance of Pará, and the competitive differential of the Barcarena region in the national and international logistics scenario, has magnificent potential to position itself as one of the largest maritime ports in Latin America. The connection of the port of Vila do Conde with the Brazilian railway network is an essential strategic need for Pará, and the State Government has had this vision, already having alternative projects for this structuring investment. Codec, in turn, is aligned with this vision, supporting projects aimed at improving the business environment and the competitiveness of the industrial and port hub of Barcarena, always focusing on sustainable development and generating jobs and income for the people of Pará.”
In the assessment of the technical director of Codec, Ruy Klautau, monitoring proposals of this magnitude is essential to ensure that large enterprises are aligned with the technical, environmental, and market needs of the State. He emphasized that the railway has the potential to enhance the efficiency of mineral and agricultural production flow, strengthening the logistical integration of the port hub of Barcarena.
The director of Concessions of Sedeme, Wilton Teixeira, also reinforced the importance of joint articulation. For him, the role of the Government is to ensure the conditions for structuring investments to advance in Pará. “We continue to support Codec's work in attracting important investments for the State, whether in the industrial sector or in infrastructure. The presentation of this railway represents yet another strategic possibility for Pará, which deserves logistical alternatives capable of meeting its production, whether of untapped minerals, grains, or other general cargo,” he stated.
Thus, the meeting consolidated itself as a first step of rapprochement, reaffirming the commitment of the State Government and Codec to dialogue with investors, technically support feasibility studies, and stimulate initiatives that contribute to economic growth and the generation of opportunities in Pará.
