With the theme "Listening Saves. Welcoming Transforms", the Tucuruí Regional Hospital Complex, through the teams of the Tucuruí Regional Hospital (HRT) and the High Complexity Oncology Unit (Unacon) — which are part of the public health network of the Government of Pará, managed by the Instituto Diretrizes — promoted, on the afternoon of Thursday (25), an educational blitz on Avenida dos Amazônidas, in front of the Hospital. The action was part of the Yellow September campaign, a national movement that encourages the appreciation of life and suicide prevention.

Professionals took to the streets to show the importance of welcoming people who are experiencing emotional suffering

Professionals from various areas of HRT and Unacon participated in the activity. In the afternoon, they displayed banners in support of the campaign and distributed informational pamphlets to drivers, providing guidance on the importance of prevention. The municipal Traffic Company accompanied the event, assisting in traffic organization and relaying information about National Traffic Day, also celebrated on this date.

Social worker from Unacon, Amanda Cavalcante emphasized the importance of teamwork in this process. "Each professional can make a difference with attentive observation and care for others. Prevention is everyone's duty," she stressed.

César Almeida Filho, 48 years old, a resident of Breu Branco, a municipality near Tucuruí, was approached by the blitz team and said that "initiatives like this are important to broaden our knowledge and unite everyone for a relevant cause. Prevention is essential, as when someone thinks about suicide, it is the end of the well. We need to be attentive to the signs and listen to this person, as listening is an excellent solution."

Awareness - The national campaign uses the color yellow in reference to World Suicide Prevention Day, celebrated on September 10. Over the years, experts have observed advances in societal awareness on the subject, overcoming prejudices and promoting more open dialogues in different social contexts, such as families, companies, public agencies, schools, and media.

Discussing suicide prevention also means caring for people in everyday life. It is necessary to demystify prejudices and remember that asking for help is a gesture of courage and love for life. "It is essential to gain more knowledge and talk more about the subject. The conversation can have a transformative effect on the life of someone facing a difficult moment. The educational blitz aims to raise awareness about mental health and suicide prevention, contributing to a more welcoming and humanized care for the population," highlighted Junior Souto, general director of the Hospital Complex.

The Yellow September campaign seeks to show that behind many smiles, there are deep stories and complex emotions, and that the toughest battle is fought within each person.
