The Economic Development Company of Pará (Codec), in partnership with the City Hall of Santarém, held a course aimed at attracting investments in the municipality this Friday (26). Held at the headquarters of the Municipal Secretariat of Planning, Management, Economic Development, Industry, Commerce, Innovation, and Technology (Semdec), the initiative brought together public managers, representatives from the productive sector, and civil society in a collaborative strategic planning workshop.

The goal was to strengthen Santarém's institutional capacity to receive new enterprises in an organized, competitive, and sustainable manner.

Institutional partnership to strengthen development

The opening of the meeting was attended by the Semdec secretary, Michell Martins, and the Director of Investment Attraction at Codec, Manoel Ibiapina, who participated online.

"The most important thing is to create a space where everyone feels comfortable contributing. Building partnerships is essential for Santarém to advance solidly," emphasized Michell Martins.

According to Manoel Ibiapina, the action is part of the Pará Government's strategy to boost regional development. "Codec is committed to supporting Santarém in strengthening its institutional capacity. This course is strategic to prepare the municipality to receive enterprises in an organized, competitive, and sustainable manner," pointed out the director.

Qualification and joint planning

The workshop was led by Codec's Institutional Relations advisor, Evandro Diniz, who presented planning methodologies and strategic analysis aimed at attracting investments. "Our goal is to train municipal employees to efficiently and safely assist investors," he explained.

The opening of the meeting was conducted by the Semdec secretary, Michell Martins, alongside the Director of Investment Attraction at Codec, Manoel Ibiapina

One of the main moments of the activity was the execution of a strategic analysis dynamic. Participants identified challenges, opportunities, and priority sectors for local development. Bioeconomy and biodiversity stood out as the main opportunity vectors, followed by tourism – one of the region's established vocations.

Active participation of civil society

The meeting was marked by the broad participation of those present, who contributed with insights and proposals during the activities.

"This collective dialogue increases the chances of turning what is on paper into real practice," evaluated Rosilene Andrade, representative of the Social Assistance Secretariat of Santarém.

The relevance of the exchange space was also highlighted by Elisângela Desincor, from the Projects and Research Section of the Tourism Secretariat. "Unlike other trainings, here we had the opportunity to contribute and value local actors, in addition to including the third sector, which is already developing relevant work in the city," she stated.

Next steps

The course is part of a set of actions by Codec that began with the Local Economic Development Seminar. The next step will be the preparation of the Santarém Investor Guide, a document that will gather strategic information about the municipality and the main opportunities for those wishing to invest in the region.

The joint action between the State Government, City Hall, and civil society reinforces the commitment to the sustainable and competitive development of Santarém, consolidating the municipality as a strategic hub for attracting investments in western Pará.
