Teachers will receive educational materials to assist in the education of their students.

Teachers from the state education network of Orlando Bittar School participated in a qualification on traffic education for children, conducted by the State Traffic Department (Detran). The training took place last Monday, the 29th, at the agency's headquarters and is part of the project “Education that Transforms Lives”, an initiative developed in partnership with the State Department of Education (Seduc) and the Municipal Department of Education of Belém (Semec).

Currently, the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) guides teachers on the mandatory teaching of traffic education as one of the contemporary and transversal themes, included in the axis of citizenship and education. Detran, through the Traffic Education Coordination and the Public Traffic School Management, carries out this training in partnership with the education secretariats. The goal is to address traffic safety with children from 1st to 5th grade in a playful and pedagogical way, using different strategies suitable for each age group.

Aimed at citizen formation and promoting traffic safety, the project seeks to incorporate the theme into the Political-Pedagogical Project (PPP) of schools and stimulate the engagement of the school community, involving teachers, students, parents, and guardians.

The training constitutes an essential educational program for both public and private education networks.

The pedagogue from the Traffic Education Coordination, Geisa Tavares, explains the importance of inserting the theme into children's daily lives. “Today, we are here with more than 30 teachers, who are acquiring knowledge about traffic education, learning how to work on the theme in the classroom and also receiving didactic and pedagogical material aimed at traffic education, within a regionalized context. In other words, they will use these pedagogical notebooks, booklets, and educational games to develop activities related to the theme,” she highlighted.

During the training, illustrative books, pedagogical and artistic materials, among other support resources, are made available for both teachers and students. In addition, there will be follow-up in schools to assess the progress of the project and propose activities that allow identifying the level of learning of the children. The initiative also ensures continuous support to participating schools, reinforcing the importance of starting traffic education from the base.

Déura Nunes stated that the training is essential for teachers.

For teachers, everything a child learns in basic education they carry for life. The coordinator and pedagogical teacher of the Orlando Bittar Early Childhood Education Reference Center, Déura Nunes, spoke about how this training is important for teaching traffic education in early childhood education. “This moment is of great importance to us because we understand that it is in early childhood education that the foundation of the child and the future adult is formed. So, we believe that we can bring an accessible language to these children, so that they can truly participate in the development of this project alongside the teachers. We believe that the child also constructs knowledge. They already have experiences in traffic, and what we will do is educate them so that they also become multipliers within their families,” she commented.

The project is aligned with the guidelines of the 2024-2027 Multiannual Plan and the BNCC, in addition to complying with what is established by the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB), which provides for the inclusion of Traffic Education at all stages and modalities of education.
