Seju conducts over 2,000 citizenship services in citizenship caravans in Marajó
Actions included issuance of identity cards, civil registration, and registration on the gov.br platform

During the month of September, the Pará Secretary of Justice (Seju) promoted, through the Citizenship Caravans, over 2,300 services in the Marajó region. The actions covered the municipalities of Afuá, Anajás, Bagre, Breves, Chaves, Curralinho, Gurupá, Melgaço, Oeiras do Pará, and Portel.
Services such as issuance of identity cards, referral for free issuance of certificates, and registration on the gov.br platform, which provides access to documents such as digital work cards and social insurance, were made available.

The coordinator of the Justice Center in Breves, Ruth Lima, explains that the demand for updated documents is one of the main needs in the region. “These are people with expired documentation, who got their certificates wet during a boat trip, or who lost their identity during a flood. And without documents, they cannot access benefits,” she highlighted.
This was the case for Belarmina dos Santos Silva, who at 99 years old could not receive her retirement because she lost her ID. Accompanied by her daughter, she attended the event in Melgaço and obtained a new copy of the document. “The service was very good! Now we can properly request our benefit,” she celebrated.

The Citizenship Caravans of Seju aim to raise awareness and educate about citizenship and social justice, facilitating access to relevant services and information in remote or isolated locations, as well as encouraging the defense and practice of individual and collective rights.
The head of Seju, Evandro Garla, notes that in 2025, the caravans have already conducted over 4,800 services in the municipalities of the region. “It is a continuous work of social justice, involving public servants, volunteers, and civil society to meet the demand of many communities that, for example, depend on river transport to access citizenship services and social benefits,” explains the secretary.
