Santa Rosa Hospital commemorates National Organ Donation Day and emphasizes the importance of the September Green campaign
The program was held at the Hemodialysis Center and in the outpatient clinic, targeting patients, companions, and users.
On this Monday (29) and Tuesday (30), the Santa Rosa Regional Hospital of Baixo Tocantins promoted activities in honor of the September Green campaign and National Organ Donation Day, celebrated on the last day of the 27th. The program was held at the Hemodialysis Center and in the outpatient clinic, targeting patients, companions, and users.
During the two days of events, informational flyers and a symbolic gift were distributed. The lectures were conducted by the Intra-Hospital Commission for Organ and Tissue Donation for Transplantation (CIHDOTT) and the multidisciplinary team of Hemodialysis. The organization of the event was the responsibility of the Humanization Commission.
The event also featured a special moment: the testimony of former patient Letícia Fernanda, a resident of Abaetetuba, who underwent hemodialysis at the Hemodialysis Center of Santa Rosa Hospital and is now a transplant recipient.
On September 27, Letícia celebrated one year post-transplant and shared messages of support with other patients. She emphasized the importance of undergoing periodic exams, such as electrocardiograms and echocardiograms, which are essential for analyzing heart health, blood circulation, and the compatibility needed for transplantation.
In her testimony, she highlighted the challenges faced during the five years of hemodialysis, a period during which she traveled to Belém on exhausting trips. She also pointed out the significant improvement resulting from the establishment, by the government of Pará, of the Hemodialysis Center at Santa Rosa Hospital in Abaetetuba in 2022. This allowed her to have a better quality of life, continue working and studying, as well as receive treatment close to her family and strengthen her mental health.
The former patient also recalled that in 2024, Santa Rosa Hospital achieved another important milestone: the first organ donation for transplantation in the Baixo Tocantins Region and in the interior of Pará. In conclusion, Letícia highlighted the importance of family support and adherence to medical guidelines, celebrating not only the milestone of one year post-transplant but also her 22 years of life, celebrated on September 27.
