Usinas da Paz reinforce the commitment to ensure quality of life and well-being for the elderly population

On the International Day of Older Persons, celebrated on this October 1st, Usinas da Paz reinforce the commitment to ensure quality of life and well-being for the elderly population. Present in different neighborhoods of the Metropolitan Region of Belém and in municipalities in the interior, the multifunctional complexes offer a series of activities focused on health, professional qualification, sports, and leisure, promoting inclusion, appreciation, and quality of life.

At Usinas, the elderly find a range of services, from health monitoring with doctors, psychologists, and dentists, to disease prevention activities. In addition, they can participate in gymnastics, dance, water aerobics, and other practices that stimulate mobility, strengthen social bonds, and contribute to healthy aging.

At 67 years old, Maria das Graças does not miss the opportunities at the Usina da Paz in the Guamá neighborhood

Another highlight is the technology and professional training courses, which attract more and more elderly people. Sewing, embroidery, computer, and gastronomy workshops have brought together groups of elderly individuals seeking to learn new skills, generate extra income, or simply stay active in activities that stimulate creativity and social interaction. All of this is offered for free, in structured, safe, and welcoming environments.

“Usinas da Paz are places of care and welcome. We want the elderly to feel respected, valued, and to have a space here to take care of their health, learn new skills, and, above all, live with joy and dignity,” emphasizes the State Secretary of Citizenship Articulation, Elieth Braga.

Maria José Gomes, 65 years old, is a dedicated student and has taken courses in fabric painting, gastronomy, and loves water aerobics

Second Home - For many elderly individuals, Usina da Paz has already become an essential part of their routines, as retired Maria José Gomes, 65, a regular at the Usina da Paz in the municipality of Benevides, shares. A student of fabric painting, Amazonian gastronomy, and water aerobics courses, she highlights the importance of the Government of Pará's citizenship complex in her life. “I really like the courses I take here. The learning offered is all good. I love being in a group with my friends. It’s very good. I am passionate about Usina da Paz,” declared Maria.

Cedi Oliveira in the sewing course: "It’s something that generates income for me and my family. Here at Usina, I feel at home."

The same sentiment is shared by Cedi Dias Oliveira, a resident of the Bengui neighborhood in Belém, a student in the sewing course at Usina da Paz Pe. Bruno Sechi. “Usina da Paz has entertained me a lot. At the moment I wasn’t working, so I started taking courses here. I learned to produce things and started selling. It’s something that has generated income for me and my family. Here at Usina, I feel at home,” said the artisan.

Maria das Graças, 67, a regular at the Usina da Paz in the Guamá neighborhood, also in the capital, states that the public facility is a blessing. “I heard about Usina da Paz on television and decided to come and see it. Today I do pilates, gastronomy, and I am learning many wonderful things. If I could, I would participate in everything. I had anxiety problems, and here I found wonderful people, friends, in addition to a lot of learning. I hope not to leave here anytime soon,” wished Mrs. Maria.

Service - All activities offered for the elderly at Usinas da Paz are free. Registrations are made in person at each unit, according to the number of available spots. The complete programming of courses and workshops can also be consulted at the receptions of each Usina or through the official Instagram: @usinasdapaz.
