The committee will play a fundamental role in prioritizing sustainable production agendas

In order to coordinate, monitor, and propose actions aimed at strengthening the state ecosystem of agricultural innovation, the Secretary of Agricultural Development and Fisheries of Pará (Sedap) established the State Management Committee for Agricultural Innovation (CGEIA). This initiative fulfills the Protocol of Intentions signed between the secretary and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa).

The CGEIA will be chaired by the representative of Sedap, as determined by the ordinance published in the State Official Gazette (DOE) and will include representatives from other state and federal public institutions, as well as representatives from research and educational institutions, productive sector entities, and civil society.

According to the ordinance published, it is the responsibility of the Committee, among other activities, to establish guidelines for agricultural innovation in the State of Pará; to prepare the State Innovation Diagnosis (Dein) and the State Action Plan for Innovation (Pein); to establish Thematic Technical Working Groups (GTTs) and to monitor the execution of the actions agreed upon within the scope of the protocol.

One of the committee's purposes is to monitor and propose actions aimed at strengthening the state ecosystem of agricultural innovation

Innovation- For the Secretary of Agricultural Development and Fisheries, Giovanni Queiroz, the union of all partners and entities focused on or linked to the rural productive sector will be fundamental in the pursuit of technological innovation developed by each of the agencies or entities represented in the committee. He emphasizes the support that the initiative received from the state government, not only through the participation of different state institutions but also from the encouragement provided by Governor Helder Barbalho.

“The CGEIA received full support from Governor Helder Barbalho so that we can bring together all possible partners, all entities focused on or linked to the rural productive sector, in the pursuit of technological innovation developed by each of these sectors, and thus we can give agriculture a condition to produce more, contribute more to production and profitability, and the independence of the producing families of this State,” emphasized the Sedap manager.

For the head of Sedap, Giovanni Queiroz, the union of all partners and entities that make up the committee will be fundamental to achieving the proposed objectives

Alignment- The strategic action aligns with a national stimulus from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock. The new governance body aims to articulate and align policies, projects, and strategic investments, promoting robust, innovative development aligned with the state's demands, noted Queiroz.

The Committee will play a fundamental role in prioritizing sustainable production agendas, in the articulation between research, extension, and market, in the standardization of indicators, and in the formation of a portfolio of strategic projects. The central focus will be on initiatives that boost productivity, product quality, environmental regularity, and the competitive insertion of Pará producers in the markets.

In addition to Sedap, the CGEIA includes Sectet (Secretary of Science, Technology, and Higher, Professional, and Technological Education), Emater-Pa (Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company of the State of Pará), Uepa (State University of Pará), DFA/PA-Mapa (Federal Delegation of Agriculture of the State of Pará - Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock), MPA (Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture), MDA (Ministry of Agrarian Development and Family Agriculture), Embrapa Amazônia Oriental (Brazilian Agricultural Research Company Eastern Amazon), Ufra (Federal Rural University of Amazon); UFPA (Federal University of Pará), Ufopa (Federal University of Western Pará); Unifesspa (Federal University of Southern and Southeastern Pará); Faepa (Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of Pará), Fiepa (Federation of Industries of the State of Pará); Famep (Federation of Municipal Associations of the State of Pará); Fetagri (Federation of Workers in Agriculture of the State of Pará), Fetraf (Federation of Workers in Family Agriculture), Senar (National Rural Learning Service), Sebrae (Brazilian Support Service for Micro and Small Enterprises), Senai (National Service for Industrial Learning), CNS (National Council of Extractive Populations), Malungu (Coordination of Associations of Remnant Quilombola Communities of Pará), the Association of Organic Producers of the State of Pará (Pará Orgânico), Guamá Foundation (Guamá Foundation for Development and Technology), and OCB (Organization of Brazilian Cooperatives).
