The Civil Police of the State of Pará arrested two suspects for committing a femicide in the city of Gurupá, located in Marajó. The victim, identified as Camila Araújo da Silva, was murdered and had her body buried in a dump.

The entire investigation was conducted by the Gurupá Police Station, linked to the Interior Police Directorate (DPI). Teams from the Specialized Division for Women's Assistance (DEAM) in Belém and the Femicide Combat Police Station (DEFEM) in Belém were dispatched to the municipality to provide support during the police actions.

Understand the case

A woman went to the Gurupá Police Station on the afternoon of this Tuesday (30) to file a report stating that her cousin had been missing since the night of the previous Monday (29).

Immediately, the police team began investigations and efforts aimed at uncovering the disappearance.

"The main suspect, who is the woman's ex-partner, was arrested in the act on this Tuesday (30). He committed the crime because he could not accept the end of the relationship and received help from a cousin, who was arrested in the act on this Wednesday (01) for assisting the man in concealing the corpse. Both dug a grave and buried the victim's body in a dump," explained delegate Hennison Jacob, head of the DPI.

Also on the morning of this Wednesday, the victim's body was found by locals in a shallow grave in the area of a dump on the Gurupá-Pucuri Highway. Despite the killer denying the crime, his cousin and accomplice confessed to helping transport and conceal the victim's body.

"To calm the local population, it was necessary to transfer the suspect to the municipality of Breves while the investigations were conducted and witness statements, image collections, and other efforts took place. The Gurupá Police Station team located a young man captured by surveillance images using the victim's bicycle. After being taken to the police unit, he confessed to helping the cousin and perpetrator of the crime bury the woman's body in a situation of violence," continued the delegate.

A team from the Scientific Police of Pará (PCEPA) was dispatched from Belém to Gurupá for the crime scene investigation, where it was determined that the cause of the victim's death was strangulation. Forensic experts also analyzed the vehicle used to transport the victim's body to the location where it was buried.

"We from DEAM and DEFEM in Belém assisted in producing a detailed report with the captured images to strengthen the police inquiry presided over by the police authority of the Gurupá Police Station. Both criminals are in custody for femicide and concealment of a corpse and are at the disposal of Justice," highlighted delegate Bruna Paolucci, head of DEAM in Belém.

Teams from the Regional Superintendence of the Islands of Marajó also assisted in the efforts, and fingerprint experts from the Identification Directorate "Enéas Martins" (DIDEM), of PCPA, acted during the forensics.
