Government of Pará swears in new food and nutritional security councilors
The collegiate has a mandate for 2025-2027 and brings together representatives from the public power and civil society to guarantee the right to adequate food

The Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Social Assistance, Labor, Employment and Income (Seaster), held the inauguration ceremony of the new councilors of the State Council of Sustainable Food and Nutritional Security (Conseans-PA) on the morning of this Wednesday (1st).
The collegiate, which will operate in the biennium 2025-2027, has the mission of strengthening public policies aimed at promoting food and nutritional security. Of a consultative and propositional nature, the Conseans brings together representatives from the public power and civil society, ensuring the right to adequate and healthy food.
The ceremony marked an important step towards consolidating public policies for food security in Pará. As councilor Keila Sullivan explains, the role of the councilor is strategic and ensures fundamental rights for the population:

“The work of the councilor involves discussions, participation in committees, and the collective construction of proposals. It is through these committees that we can articulate ideas and transform them into practical actions. It is also our responsibility to ensure that civil society understands its rights regarding adequate, healthy, and quality food. We are committed to providing information that often does not reach the population. It is about giving access to those who do not have it. This means, for example, working with communities on initiatives such as community gardens, popular restaurants, and other projects that expand the right to food,” highlighted the councilor.
During the ceremony, the priorities of the new management were presented, which include addressing food insecurity in vulnerable territories, valuing family farming, strengthening supply systems, and encouraging sustainable practices in food production and consumption.

The sworn-in councilor Maria Amujacir, representative of the Citizen Education Network (Recid), reinforced the importance of collective commitment: “Our challenge is not only environmental sustainability or material development but also ensuring the happiness of black mothers, single women, families in the countryside, the peripheries, and the favelas. Families that need healthy food capable of providing more quality of life, more happiness, and more longevity. May families be able to smile again, to live with dignity.
The new composition of the Council reinforces the Government of Pará's commitment to social inclusion and combating inequalities. Over the next two years, the councilors will contribute to the formulation of strategies that expand the access of the population of Pará to healthy, nutritious, and quality food.
“We support all initiatives that promote quality of life and access to food; thus, we continue with our actions, ensuring good food for people in vulnerable situations, in addition to reinforcing our commitment to dignity and the well-being of all,” said Inocencio Gasparim, head of Seaster.
