On the morning of this Thursday (02), the Military Police of Pará, through the Environmental Policing Command (CPA), met with the team that will integrate the force of Operation Amazon Alive – Phase 60 to align security and logistics strategies. The action will take place from October 6 to 31, with work fronts in the municipalities of Pacajá and Santarém.

During the meeting, the planning of the security forces' personnel, operational strategies, and logistics to ensure support for Semas inspectors were discussed, providing security during approaches, seizures, and monitoring of critical areas. At the end of each mission, reports and digital records of the actions taken and results are forwarded.

"This alignment is essential to reinforce the effectiveness of Operation Amazon Alive. We are acting in an integrated manner to combat deforestation and illegal mining, protect our forests, and ensure that Pará is prepared to show the world, at COP30, the commitment it has to sustainability and the future of the Amazon," declared the commander of the Environmental Policing Command, Colonel Orlandino Lima.

The operation brings together efforts from the Military Police of Pará (PMPA), Civil Police (PCPA), Fire Department (CBMPA), Scientific Police (PCEPA), and Public Security Air Group (Graesp). The objective is to intensify environmental inspections, combat illegal deforestation, curb burning, and hold offenders accountable both criminally and administratively.

2nd Sergeant of the PM, Marcelo Dutra, is one of those assigned to the operation and highlighted the importance of the work in the Amazon rainforest: "In addition to protecting the forests of the state, Amazon Alive reinforces the PM's commitment to environmental preservation, at a time when global attention is focused on our region. I am happy to be able to contribute to the protection of our forest."

Amazon Alive - Created by the State Government in 2020, Operation Amazon Alive is coordinated by Semas within the State Plan Amazon Now and has established itself as one of the main fronts against environmental crimes in Pará.

Based on information from the Integrated Center for Environmental Monitoring (Cimam), which uses satellite images to identify critical areas, the operation allows for rapid responses through mobile actions and fixed bases in strategic regions. Since its inception, the initiative has already embargoed hundreds of thousands of hectares of deforested areas, closed down clandestine mining operations, destroyed illegal camps, and seized large volumes of wood and heavy machinery.
