Dr. Roberto Macedo Emergency Room offers movie session at 'Sextou na Pediatria'
The programming in honor of Children's Day will continue on Fridays in October, providing joy and relaxation to patients hospitalized in the Pediatric Unit

The hall near the Pediatric Admission Unit of Dr. Roberto Macedo Emergency Room (PSRM), in Belém, welcomed hospitalized children on the afternoon of this Friday (3), who left their beds to participate in "Sextou na Pediatria," with a special movie session, kicking off the programming for Children's Month. The action, promoted by the State Emergency Room Humanization Committee, provided popcorn and fruit salad to the participants.
In October, the unit will promote playful and recreational activities, led by the multidisciplinary team.

According to the Humanization Analyst, sociologist Watuzi Rebelo da Silva, the sector closely monitors the children's routine, and the multidisciplinary team shares demands daily, ensuring a comprehensive view of the patient. In this context, the "Sextou na Pediatria" Project was created, and in the month dedicated to children, the initiative will offer various activities aimed at pediatric patients.
"Today we showed a movie that has been very successful with children and adults, Lilo & Stitch (live-action), starting the programming for the month dedicated to children. This project, like other initiatives, follows the guidelines of the National Humanization Policy (PNH), specifically the concept of Expanded Clinic. It emphasizes that care should not be limited to just the illness, but consider the patient in their entirety: their history, family, and social context, as entertainment and socialization activities are important not only for leisure but also for the social development and well-being of children during hospitalization," highlighted the sociologist.

Interaction - Vanilsa dos Santos Ferreira, a resident of the municipality of Barcarena (Metropolitan Region of Belém), took her son Davi Lucas dos Santos Marques, 2 years old, to the cinema, and highlighted the boy's joy during the session.
"I thought this cinema idea was great. My son was sad, upset, with a frown, but soon he perked up and started to smile. At the beginning of the movie, he was shy, but then he loosened up because he really likes this movie. It's very important to do something like this, to cheer the children up, because when they stay in the room all the time, they get sad, and going out a little to interact with other children is very good for them," said Davi's mother.
For the upcoming Fridays, the programming in honor of Children's Month will include activities led by professionals from the Nutrition, Dentistry, Physiotherapy, and Sustainability Commission teams, with dynamics, games, and playful activities related to these professionals' areas of expertise, creating an environment of relaxation, joy, and interaction among the children treated in the Pediatric Admission Unit.
