The state government continues to advance in structural works that boost development and improve the quality of life for residents of Pará. A month ago, another section of the paving of PA-220, known as Transmaú, was delivered in the municipality of Maracanã, northeast of Pará. With the completion of the works, there are already 54 kilometers paved and signposted, directly benefiting thousands of residents of the Guamá Integration Region.

The new highway represents a milestone for mobility and the flow of local agricultural production, strengthening the economy and logistics of the region. Previously, the route was made via dirt roads, making it difficult to transport products and for residents to move between communities.

Residents celebrate the transformation that the arrival of asphalt has brought to their daily lives. Joanita Monteiro, 67, recalls the difficulties faced before the paving.
“The road was dirt, our way out to other cities became very difficult, we had to walk to catch the bus, crossing by canoe. It was an immense joy when the asphalt arrived, it was the dream of many people and now everything is easier. The feeling is one of gratitude,” she said emotionally.

For Iolanda Ferreira da Silva, born and raised in Maracanã, the new road has completely changed the routine of the population. “It was always a small, bumpy road and now with the asphalt it has become wonderful. Going to other regions has become easier, safer, and more peaceful,” she said.

Professor Edinaldo de Jesus also highlights the positive impact of the work on mobility.
“This road is my route every week and after they paved it, it improved 100%. In rainy times, it took at least an hour to cross, not to mention the mud. Now, in 10 or 15 minutes I can do it. Traveling on a signposted and safe road is a huge step for our region,” he stated.

According to the Secretary of State for Infrastructure and Logistics, Adler Silveira, the delivery of another section of PA-220 reaffirms the commitment of the government of Pará to integrated and sustainable development. “The paving of Transmaú is more than an engineering work; it is a direct investment in people's lives. We are ensuring more safety, logistical efficiency, and strengthening the local economy, especially the flow of agricultural production. Each paved kilometer represents progress, opportunities, and dignity for those who live and produce in the interior of Pará,” emphasized the secretary.

PA-220 is part of a broad set of works that the state government has been executing in all regions, focusing on improving road infrastructure, boosting regional development, access to public services, and the sustainable economic growth of Pará.
