The blood donation campaign brought together students, teachers, and staff from Uepa at the Telégrafo campus in Belém

The Pará Center for Hemotherapy and Hematology Foundation (Hemopa) held a blood collection action in partnership with the State University of Pará (Uepa) at the Center for Social Sciences and Education (CCSE), located in the Telégrafo neighborhood in Belém, last Monday (06). The initiative aimed to raise awareness among the academic community and increase the institution's blood stocks, reinforcing the importance of voluntary blood donation to save lives.

The mobilization saw participation from students, teachers, and university staff, who responded to the call for solidarity and took part in the act of citizenship. In addition to ensuring the collection, the campaign also sought to emphasize the need for donor loyalty, especially during periods of higher demand in public and private hospitals in the State.

Maria Ruth, nurse at CCSE/Uepa, emphasized the need to keep the stocks replenished, which can save lives

According to Alice Loureiro, social worker at the Donor Recruitment Management (Gecad) of Hemopa, the campaign took place at a symbolic moment for the institution. "We are in the week of Círio and we started our movement on Saturday at Hemopa. Uepa is an important partner that always mobilizes students and staff for donation. For this edition, our goal is to achieve 60 attendees, and the service will continue until 4 PM," she highlighted.

Among the participants was Maria Ruth, a nurse at CCSE and a voluntary donor. Having worked for almost ten years in the Neonatal ICU at Santa Casa, she highlighted the relevance of the act of solidarity. "I have often witnessed patients needing blood and not finding the appropriate type in the stocks. Therefore, I consider it essential to contribute through donation and be able to help others. It is a great happiness to know that a life can be saved through this attitude," she stated.

The partnership between Hemopa and Uepa is part of the foundation's calendar of external actions, which decentralizes collections and brings donation services closer to citizens. The initiative reaffirms the commitment of the institutions to promote health and build a culture of solidarity among young university students.
