Secretariat for Women promotes the 'Don't Stay Silent' campaign, with actions to prevent violence in entertainment venues

The State Secretariat for Women (Semu) intensifies the campaign to promote the 'Don't Stay Silent' Protocol, an initiative that establishes measures for prevention, support, and protection in cases of violence in entertainment venues.

The first phase of the campaign was carried out in bars and restaurants in the capital, in partnership with Abrasel (Brazilian Association of Bars and Restaurants Pará). Semu teams visited commercial establishments to distribute informational materials, guide managers and workers, and reinforce the importance of adopting the protocol as a protection tool.

“We are here promoting the 'Don't Stay Silent Protocol', which is an important public policy for preventing violence against women in bars and restaurants, with an informative and educational character, emphasizing the need for all of us to join hands in protection and confronting this violence against women,” highlighted Alyne Souza, legal coordinator of Semu.

The initiative was well received by representatives of the sector. Júlia Koury, a representative of an establishment, emphasized that the business already has internal procedures to support women in risky situations: “We are in compliance with this law to ensure the safety of women. We have established an internal protection protocol to help them in the way they prefer and in the most discreet manner possible.”

The social worker from Semu, Stefany Wanzeler, reinforced that the goal is for every woman to feel safe in any environment. "The objective is for establishments to ensure women a safe environment, making them feel welcomed, preserved, and that their rights are not violated.”

Lectures in tourist facilities

The second phase of the campaign takes place in partnership with Pará 2000, an organization responsible for managing spaces such as Estação das Docas, Parque do Utinga, and Mangal das Garças. The proposal is to raise awareness among employees and service providers.

The lectures began at Mangal das Garças and continued to Parque Estadual do Utinga, gathering workers who play a strategic role in major events held in the capital of Pará.

“We had a record audience of collaborators interested in learning. It is essential to know how to deal with tourists and, above all, to ensure the protection of women,” evaluated Alessandra Carramanho, administrative manager of Pará 2000.

The coordinator of Estação das Docas, Rony Ferreira, reminded that adherence to the protocol is a collective responsibility: “It is a beautiful, wonderful campaign that everyone should join. After all, the safety of our women also lies in our hands.”

Lawyer Gabrielle Maués delivered one of the lectures and highlighted the relevance of the initiative: “The city will receive many more people. It is essential that spaces like Mangal and Utinga are properly trained and qualified to handle any situation and, above all, to ensure the protection of women.”

State Commitment
For the State Secretary for Women, Paula Gomes, the campaign shows that the protection of women is a priority and should permeate all social coexistence spaces. "The 'Don't Stay Silent' is more than a protocol: it is a collective commitment so that bars, restaurants, entertainment venues, and even our tourist spots become environments of care and welcome. We want every woman in Pará to be assured that she is not alone and that she can count on a network prepared to protect her,” emphasized the secretary.

With educational, informational, and awareness-raising actions, Semu strengthens the network of protection for women and expands the reach of the 'Don't Stay Silent' Protocol.
