“I really liked the action, it was something very important for the children, a way to make them happy and cheerful, even with their health condition.” This statement is from Rejane Amorim, mother of little Cecília, 3 years old, one of the patients treated by the General Hospital of Tailândia (HGT). The declaration summarizes the feelings of families during the special action held this Friday (10), in honor of Children's Day, promoted by the Humanization Working Group (GTH) of the hospital unit.

The initiative aimed to provide a moment of joy, leisure, and welcome for hospitalized children and those receiving outpatient care. The program started at 10 am, in the reception of the pediatric outpatient clinic, where GTH members gathered to kick off the activities. The space was prepared to welcome the little ones with dynamics and the distribution of toys. Volunteers interacted with patients and families, creating a relaxed and welcoming environment within the hospital.

According to HGT's pedagogue, Elizabett Gomes, the action is part of the institution's commitment to promote comprehensive care, also considering the emotional well-being of children. “These actions bring lightness to the hospital environment and help reduce the anxiety that the hospitalization process can cause. Playing is a form of care, as it contributes to the emotional and social development of children, in addition to bringing them closer to the healthcare team,” said the professional.

After the activities in the reception, GTH members proceeded to the Pediatric Inpatient Clinic, where they continued the dynamics with the hospitalized children. A total of 40 toys were distributed among the little patients, ensuring that everyone could participate in the celebration. The action concluded in the Pediatric Emergency Room, with more moments of interaction and joy between the team and the children being treated.

A reference in pediatric care in the region, HGT has stood out for its investments aimed at child care. Only this year, the unit has already performed over 1,000 outpatient consultations in pediatrics and recorded about 220 hospitalizations of this population.

As part of this commitment, the hospital recently inaugurated a new playroom, expanded and equipped with toys, books, and educational materials. The space is aimed at leisure and cognitive stimulation for children during their hospitalization, offering a welcoming environment within the unit.

The executive director of HGT, Eduardo Silva, emphasized that actions like this reflect the management's commitment to humanizing care and the well-being of patients. “Our goal is to provide care that goes beyond medical assistance. We want children and their families to feel welcomed and supported, even in delicate moments. Humanization is one of the pillars of our work, and initiatives like this reinforce that commitment,” said the manager.
